Rahul Gandhi has built his political career on dramatic rhetoric, constant finger-pointing, and playing the victim card. Yet, when it comes to actual governance and real parliamentary work, his commitment is nowhere to be found. The latest example of his hypocrisy unfolded when he skipped the crucial Lok Sabha debate on Manipur, a state he has been relentlessly invoking for over a year. This glaring absence has rightfully drawn widespread criticism, proving once again that his concern for Manipur was nothing more than a vote-grabbing stunt.
For over a year, Rahul Gandhi has paraded himself as if he is the sole voice fighting for Manipur. He has repeatedly accused the Modi government of ignoring the northeastern state’s crisis, posting emotionally charged messages on social media, and lecturing the nation on democracy. However, when the time came to actually participate in a serious discussion and contribute meaningfully to a solution, Rahul Gandhi was missing in action.
Just days before skipping the debate, Rahul Gandhi met with Congress leaders from Manipur and targeted PM Modi for allegedly ignoring the situation. He even posted on X (formerly Twitter): “The people of Manipur deserve peace and stability. Every Indian stands united in wanting a lasting solution to this crisis. Resolving this conflict must be our national priority.”
Yet, when the Lok Sabha took up the matter for discussion, Rahul Gandhi vanished. This stark contradiction exposes his lack of seriousness and confirms what many have long suspected his dramatic outrage is only for political optics. Rahul’s absence did not go unnoticed, and social media erupted with mockery. Many netizens came forward basing Rahul Gandhi for not being part of the discussion on Manipur.
One of Rahul Gandhi’s favorite talking points has been that India’s democracy is under threat, and that the government is curtailing opposition voices. However, the Lok Sabha’s session on Manipur completely dismantles this lie. The discussion went on even after 2 AM, with Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh actively participating. The ruling government patiently listened to opposition MPs, allowing them to express their dissent and concerns. This directly contradicts Rahul Gandhi’s baseless allegations that opposition voices are being silenced.
Rahul Gandhi’s actions make one thing clear that his outrage over Manipur was never about the people. It was always about politics and milking the crisis for votes. If he truly cared about the state, he would have participated in the discussion and pushed for real solutions. If he truly wanted to help, he would have engaged in serious policy discussions instead of reducing Manipur to a talking point for political grandstanding. But instead, Rahul Gandhi did what he always does, he vanished when real work was required. His absence is a reminder to the people of India that Congress does not care about Manipur, only about power.
