Amid the controversy around alleged comedian Kunal Kamra’s offensive remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BookMyShow has removed him from its platform. On Saturday (5th April 2025), the online ticketing company removed all his content as well as delisted him from the list of artists listed on its website. Search query for the name of Kunal Kamra doesn’t any longer yield a match response on the Bookmyshow website.
The development comes days after he performed a stand up comedy show where he made several offensive remarks against political leaders in the garb of parody. In the parody song, he took a “gaddar” jibe which didn’t sit well with Shiv Sena party cadres, a faction of which went on to vandalise the show site where he performed the stand up show.
A day earlier, Shiv Sena youth leader Rahool Kanal wrote a letter to BookMyShow. In his letter, he requested the online ticketing company to not give Kunal Kamra a platform on their site. Kanal requested the website not to further the sales of tickets for Kamra’s upcoming show. He stressed that “continuing to facilitate ticket sales for his events could be perceived as an endorsement of his divisive rhetoric which may have serious repercussions for public sentiment and order in the city.”

In his letter to Bookmyshow shared on X, he further wrote, “Such remarks not only hurt the sentiments of public at large but also have the potential to incite public mischief and disrupt social harmony. By providing a platform for his performances, BookMyShow inadvertently lends credibility and reach to an individual whose actions threaten public order, particularly in a vibrant and diverse city like Mumbai, where your company is headquartered.”
Following the website’s decision to delist Kunal Kamra, Shiv Sena youth leader Kanal welcomed the move. He thanked BookMyShow for removing any content linked to the alleged stand up comedian Kunal Kamra.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Mumbai Police issued a third summons to Kunal Kamra in connection with an FIR for defamation and remarks amounting to public mischief.
A day earlier, the Police visited his house to find out if the comedian would appear before them.
Following the offensive remarks controversy, Tamil Nadu resident Kamra has camped in his home state.
