The people of Poonch in the state of Jammu and Kashmir are celebrating the opening of a 50-bed Critical Care Block at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital. This key development, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is to bring high-end healthcare nearer to this far-flung border district. The center is being constructed under Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and will greatly enhance access to life-saving healthcare for the inhabitants of Poonch and surrounding areas. The people have thanked the Central Government and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and are hoping that the project is completed at the earliest.
Dr. Parvez Ahmed Khan, Poonch Chief Medical Officer, pointed out the significance of the new health care center, noting that upon its completion, it will offer quality medical treatment to seriously ailing patients in the district. This will cut down on the distances patients have to travel for emergency care. The four-storey block will have up-to-date medical facilities, such as X-ray and ultrasound equipment, an operation theater, a lab, a CT scan machine, an ICU, and other necessary healthcare equipment. Catering to a population of over six lakh, the Critical Care Block is expected to improve healthcare accessibility and outcomes for the region. The residents welcomed the project as a breakthrough step towards enhanced medical facilities.
A resident, Imtiyaz Ahmad Salaria, welcomed the project, mentioning the ways through which the facility will eradicate long and often tedious journeys to distant hospitals. He asked for the prompt completion of the project, expressing its importance in addressing healthcare problems for those living in the border area. Construction of Critical Care Blocks of PM-ABHIM is carried out in an organized manner, ensuring appropriate planning and implementation. The scheme follows guidelines on site, space, infrastructure design, and legal requirements to provide quality health care to disadvantaged populations. For Poonch’s inhabitants, the project is one of revolution, with the possibility of ushering in improved medical infrastructure and relief from the travails of venturing out for emergency medical treatment.
