Illegal weapons were used by miscreants for firing during the Sambhal violence that broke out on 24th November last year. The violent pandemonium unfolded when Islamist miscreants launched a violent attack on the official party which went there to survey the so-called Shahi Jama Masjid, built illegally over Harihar Mandir in Sambhal.
The Islamo-leftist cabal had tried to pin the blame on Sambhal Police for the death of 4 rioters. However, their propaganda has fallen flat as the ballistic reports have established that there was “no firing from the police side.”
According to sources cited in media reports, the ballistics examination of the empty shells and the firearms recovered after the riots have established these key findings – that Illegal weapons were used for firing and that there was no firing from the Police side.
The sources added that the Sambhal police have received the ballistics report. Police sources said that the report, however, is inconclusive about the bullets causing the deaths of four people as the bullets “passed through”, or exited, the bodies after they were shot.
The illegal weapons allegedly used for firing during the Sambhal violence were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused and the empty shells were collected from the site of the violence.
For those unversed, on 24th November last year, violence erupted near the so-called Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal when an Islamist mob clashed with the police which was accompanying the survey party in line with court-order to survey the 16th-century disputed structure.
An officer said that weapons, along with live and empty cartridges allegedly recovered from the spot and from the accused arrested in the case, were sent for forensic examination.
A senior officer hinted that no cartridge was found from the bodies of the four persons who died in the violence.
He said, “more findings about matching of the firearms and the cartridges are awaited for final confirmation.”

So far, they have arrested 81 persons including Zafar Ali, the chairman of the Shahi Jama Masjid managing committee. Ali was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Sambhal violence.
The Police are also conducting raids to trace around 70 persons “whose involvement surfaced during the probe”, police sources added.
