In a major security operation, a suspected terrorist has been arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Haryana Special Task Force (STF) in Faridabad. During interrogation, the suspect revealed plans to target the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The suspect, identified as Abdul Rehman, hails from Faizabad district (now Ayodhya) in Uttar Pradesh. Acting on intelligence inputs, Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF conducted a joint operation in Faridabad, where they successfully arrested Rehman. Following his arrest, security forces recovered two hand grenades that had been hidden in an abandoned location. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and officials confirmed that Rehman was arrested on Sunday. Gujarat ATS has also released a photograph of the accused.
Gujarat ATS received intelligence that a suspicious individual was planning a major attack at Ayodhya Ram Mandir and was hiding in Faridabad. Acting swiftly, the ATS team reached Haryana and coordinated with the local STF. A joint operation was launched in Palwal, leading to the arrest of Abdul Rehman. Upon his capture, officials recovered two hand grenades from a concealed location, confirming the severity of his intentions. The suspect has since been transferred to Gujarat for further interrogation.
According to intelligence sources, Abdul Rehman was trained by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for the planned attack on the Ram Temple. The ISI had provided him with two hand grenades, which he intended to transport to Ayodhya. Investigators also discovered several suspicious videos in his possession, containing details about major religious sites across India. Abdul Rehman is 19 years old and his movements and communications were being closely monitored before his arrest. Authorities suspect he had links to Islamist groups and had been in contact with handlers from across the border.
Abdul Rehman was a butcher by profession. Security officials revealed that he was actively involved in religious gatherings (jamaats) and frequently traveled for such events. To avoid detection, he had been living in Faridabad’s Pali area under the alias “Shankar.” He resided in an abandoned tube well house, whose owner had passed away recently.
