When the world has not forgotten Saurabh Rajput’s murder case, another similar incident has come to the fore from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district. A woman, along with her lover and a contract killer, allegedly conspired to murder her husband just two weeks after their marriage. The accused, Pragati Yadav, had been in a relationship with Anurag Yadav from her village for four years. She was, however, coerced by her family into marrying 22-year-old Dilip Yadav on March 5, 2025.
Dissatisfied with the union and eager to be with Anurag, Pragati hatched a plan to dispose of her husband. She made Anurag believe that Dilip was rich and they would be able to lead a comfortable life after his death. Pragati provided Anurag with Rs 1 lakh to arrange the murder, and Anurag hired a contract killer, identified as Ramji Nagar, for Rs 2 lakh to execute the crime.
On March 19, while Dilip was returning from Kannauj district, he stopped near the Patna Canal at a roadside hotel. Two men on motorcycles then approached him, feigning having a car stuck, and lured him onto a motorcycle. They drove him to a secluded area. Dilip was soon brutally attacked, shot, and left naked in a wheat field.
Village locals found Dilip in a badly injured condition and immediately contacted the police. He was rushed to the hospital but died due to his injuries after three days of treatment. The police began an investigation and checked CCTV footage from nearby areas. The footage came as key evidence, with Dilip being spotted carrying off on a motorcycle, and on this basis, the authorities concluded Ramji Nagar as one of the perpetrators.
