In a no-holds-barred critique of the global left, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni came down heavily on the so-called liberal ecosystem. She exposed the global leftist ecosystem’s double standards when it responds to the rise of conservative leaders worldwide. Addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., via video link, Meloni emphasised how the global left has been seething with rage and struggling to cope with the growing Right wing wave, citing the electoral successes of nationalist leaders like Trump, Modi, and herself.
Lauding US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Meloni slammed the opposition bloc, describing them as “elites” and left-wing politicians. In her address, Meloni highlighted the stark contrast in how conservative and liberal leaders are perceived by the legacy media and the left-wing ecosystem across the globe.
She castigated the leftist ecosystem and legacy media, arguing that when Bill Clinton and Tony Blair established a global leftist liberal network in the 1990s, they were hailed as statesmen. However, the same ecosystem follows a hypocritical stance when it comes to the rise or reported collaborations of the conservative leaders. Notably, the usual suspects brazenly launch a smear campaign against the conservative and nationalist leaders including name calling them and dubbing them as “threats to democracy”.
“When Bill Clinton (former US President) and Tony Blair (former UK Prime Minister) created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy. This is the Left’s double standards,” said Meloni.

She added, “We defend freedom. We love our nations. We want secure borders. We preserve businesses and citizens… We defend family and life. We fight against wokeism. We protect our sacred right to our faith and our free speech. And we stand for common sense. So ultimately, our struggle is hard, but the choice is simple.”
Meloni asserted that despite all the mud they throw at us, citizens keep voting for us. She also took a jibe at the meltdown of the global left, describing it as “hysteria.“
“The United States and Europe will remain close under Trump. I know that I am not alone in this battle, that you are all standing with me, that we are all standing together. And believe me, this makes all the difference,” she confidently stated.
The Italian Prime Minister also reinforced her vision of a united conservative front.
