With the Delhi Assembly elections concluded, multiple exit polls predict a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), potentially ending its 27-year-long wait for power in the national capital. If these predictions hold true, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has ruled Delhi for a decade, may face a major setback when results are announced on February 8.
Exit Poll Predictions
- P-Marq Exit Poll: BJP is expected to secure 39 seats, while AAP may win 21-31 seats. Congress is projected to get 0-1 seat.
- Peoples Pulse Exit Poll: BJP could win 51-60 seats, while AAP is predicted to secure 10-19 seats, with Congress unlikely to win any.
- People’s Insight Exit Poll: BJP is expected to get 40-44 seats, while AAP may secure 25-29 seats.
- Matrize Exit Poll: This poll suggests a close contest, predicting 35-40 seats for BJP and 32-37 seats for AAP.
- Chanakya Exit Poll: BJP is projected to win 39-44 seats, AAP 25-28 seats, while Congress could get 2-3 seats.
- JVC Exit Poll: BJP is expected to get 39-45 seats, AAP 22-32 seats, while Congress may win 0-2 seats.
With 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly and 36 required for a majority, the exit polls indicate a strong likelihood of BJP forming the next government. While most surveys predict a comfortable victory for the BJP, AAP is still expected to put up a fight in certain constituencies. Congress, on the other hand, continues to struggle.
However, past elections have shown that exit polls can sometimes be inaccurate. The final results on February 8 will determine whether these predictions hold true or if Delhi’s political landscape takes an unexpected turn. The Aam Aadmi Party as expected has pointed out at the exit polls and called them incoorect predictions. Bhartiya Janata Party on the other hand seems to be happy with the exit polls as they indicate the saffron party’s return to the National Capital after 27 long years.
