The magazine’s piece, titled “Elon Musk’s Latest Terrifying Foray into British Politics,” accused the Tesla CEO of “weaponizing a national scandal” and even “making calls to overthrow a government.” The hit piece appears to be an attempt to shield the Labour Party from scrutiny while undermining Musk’s credibility.
One of the article’s key contentions was that Elon Musk amplified “woke cover-up” narratives rather than acknowledging the deeper societal failures that allowed the crimes to persist. The piece claimed that the victims were often dismissed as “sex workers or sluts” rather than being treated as children in need of protection. However, The New Yorker notably omitted crucial details, such as how fears of being labeled “racist” dissuaded law enforcement from acting against predominantly Pakistani and Muslim perpetrators.
The magazine’s critique extended to Elon Musk’s tweets, portraying him as someone seeking to “foment disorder” rather than genuinely addressing child exploitation. Moreover, the article avoided criticizing the Labour government’s role in addressing these scandals or acknowledging systemic failures within law enforcement and governance. It must be noted that it is the Labour Party led by Keir Starmer who rejected the amendment proposed on the 8th of January which asked for a national inquiry into grooming gangs. The proposal sought to amend the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill to safeguard children from exploitation.
The Labour Party has got a history of turning a blind eye upon the operating Pakistani Muslim Grooming Gangs in the country.
