Robert Pattinson, recently, has hinted at the possibility of retiring before completing The Batman trilogy, which has sparked debates in Hollywood about his future. Pattinson has had over a decade of career progression, from being a young teen star to a superstar around the world. From the very beginning, several fans were skeptical about Robert Pattinson playing the role of the iconic superhero, but he proved everyone wrong with his marvelous performance in the 2022 film The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves. The movie is part of a planned trilogy to be followed by the subsequent one in 2026.
Pattinson discussed in an interview with The New York Times magazine that he is likely to play Batman throughout the trilogy and was unsure about his future in the industry.
He said, “I could genuinely be retiring by the end of them. Not in a million years did I think I’d still be doing this when I got my first job. I can’t believe this is still going.”
Pattinson also shared his philosophy on maintaining focus throughout his career, explaining that one needs to stay disciplined.
He added, “The main thing is constantly remembering what your job is. It’s a discipline to not use your energy on anything other than that.”
Pattinson started his career when he was 17, as he was noticed for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). But it was with the Twilight series, where he played Edward Cullen, that he became a star around the world. From there, he appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Good Time, High Life, The Lighthouse, and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, further demonstrating his range as an actor.
His next project is Mickey 17, an American science fiction film by Bong Joon-ho. Warner Bros. pushed back its March 29, 2024, release date to January 31, 2025. In Mickey 17, Pattinson plays an “expendable” employee on a mission to colonize an ice planet who resists replacement by a clone. This is Bong Joon-ho’s first project since his Oscar-winning Parasite, which became the highest-grossing Korean film and the first non-English language film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Pattinson’s plan to take a premature retirement comes days after Indian media widely interpreted Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey’s cryptic Instagram post as an announcement of “retirement”, however, TFI had outrighlty busted this wild assertion. Our stand was later vindicated by none other than the Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey himself, saying that his post was misinterpreted and it was only about a “long break“.
