Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, a tragic incident where armed terrorists infiltrated the Parliament premises, claiming nine lives and leaving 18 injured. Among the casualties were six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service staff, and a gardener who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Afzal Guru, one of the terrorists associated with Pakistan backed terrorist group, Jaish-e-Mohammed was apprehended and executed by the Indian judiciary after prolonged trials. But what was most shocking regarding the execution of the terrorist Afzal Guru was the sympathy and the resistance the Indian liberals showed towards a terrorist who claimed many innocent lives.

One of the many liberals who were up on the streets, sympathizing for terrorist Afzal Guru was the parents of current Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi Marlena. Notably, Atishi Marlena parents, Vijay Kumar Singh and Tripta Wahi, had written mercy pleas seeking to save Afzal Guru from capital punishment. Afzal Guru, the Pakistani-trained terrorist, who was the mastermind of the ghastly terror attack on the Indian Parliament. The court had declared him a key conspirator in the “diabolical” attack, emphasizing the overwhelming evidence against him.
Atishi Marlena herself has acknowledged her parents’ role in these pleas, attempting to distance herself politically. In an interview with Amar Ujala, she said, “I am not responsible for any political step taken by my parents. The responsibility is theirs. From my perspective, I was not in support of that step.”
Both Atishi parents are known communists, with her father associated with the Stalin Society, an organization that defends the legacy of Soviet dictator and mass murderer Joseph Stalin. Her mother, Tripta Wahi, is linked to SAR Geelani, a controversial figure associated with anti-India politics and a known sympathizer of terrorists. Even the surname ‘Marlena’ which Atishi has in her name was given by her parents who wanted to show tribute to Marx and Lenin. This was revealed by Atishi Marlena herself in the Youtube show ‘Shut Up Ya Kunal’ of controversial comedian Kunal Kamra. Presently she is the Chief Minister of Delhi.
