On 7th of December, former UP CM and BSP Chief Mayawati slammed Congress and Samajwadi Party for not raising their voices against the ongoing persecution faced by the Hindus in Bangladesh. Mayawati also pointed fingers against Congress and held the party responsible for the immeasurable torture faced by Bangladeshi Hindus on a daily basis.
She stressed that the Congress, as a punitive measure for electing Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to the Constituent Assembly, handed over a Hindu-majority seat in Bengal to Pakistan during Partition which later became part of Bangladesh.
Addressing a press conference, Mayawati shed light on the dire situation of Hindus in Bangladesh. She accused Congress of turning a blind eye to the plight of the Bangladeshi Hindus, with most of them belonging to the Dalit community.
She said, “Hindus are becoming victims of crimes in large numbers in the neighbouring country Bangladesh. Most of them are Dalits and people from weaker sections. Congress party is silent and is now shouting ‘Be careful’ only for Muslim votes,”

She accused the Congress party for all the persecution that the Hindus of Bangladesh are currently face. She remarked that most of the Bangladeshi Hindus were forcibly sent to Pakistan during the Partition as punishment for electing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to the Constituent Assembly. She attributed this to the Congress’ casteist mindset, which ensured that areas like Jessore-Khulna, despite having Hindu majorities, were ceded to Pakistan. These areas are now part of Bangladesh, where Hindu Dalits face severe persecution.

Mayawati also urged the BJP-led central government to act decisively to protect Dalits and Hindus in Bangladesh, emphasizing their historical ties to India. She also appealed for repatriation of persecuted individuals from Bangladesh to India, arguing that the Congress’ actions during Partition must now be corrected.
She also accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) of neglecting public issues during the ongoing Parliament session, choosing instead to focus on securing Muslim votes by politicizing the violence in Sambhal.
