The suicide of Ai enginner, Atul Subhash because of the harassment made towards him by his wife and her family has pushed the entire nation in shock. Social media is flooded with rage from the Indian public against the gender biased Indian laws. The demand to mark an end to the flawed gender biased laws that unleashes cruelty upon innocent men has gained enough momentum.
In the middle of the rage, a video of Renuka Chowdhary, the former Minister for Women and Child Development with Karan Thapar is being circulated across the social media platforms where she could be seen being insensitive towards the suffering of men. It must be noted that it was the former Congress Minister for Women and Child Development, Renuka Chowdhary who had brought in the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 which has biased and draconian principles against men.
Meet Renuka Choudhary, the woman behind India’s regressive Domestic Violence Law. When confronted about its one-sidedness, she replied, “Let men suffer.”

The clip of the interview that is going viral on the social media platforms is of 2006. It features Karan Thapar and Renuka Chowdhary where Karan Thapar outlines the flaws and biases the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 carries against the Indian men.
Things that need our attention from this 11mints interview of @RenukaCCongress:
In 2005, it was found that out of every 100 cases of anti-dowry laws, 98 were fake.
The way she is making a mockery of innocent men is shocking.

Karan Thapar puts forth some instances where the Act will work against the men and make the innocents suffer. He highlights “if a husband was to sell a family television at the time his marriage was going through a bad patch, it would be deemed to be domestic violence”. He also points out that the law doesn’t limit itself to wives but divorced wives and girlfriends whom the man might have separated for a long time, more than a decade.
Karan Thapar also mentions his disagreement that even threatening domestic violence calls the domestic violence act upon his door and mentions how vicious women can get away with the use of this law and misuse it. Reacting to this, the former Congress Minister makes an absurd defense of the act by stating that if a man maintains a relationship of mutual respect with his wife then there is no need to get scared of the act. She completely overlooks the misuse, the act may bring with itself.
Karan also states that the anti-dowry act has brought a wave of fake cases with 98% of the cases turning out to be false and asks Is she intending to look seriously upon the misuse of the act only when men suffer to which Renuka Chowdhary surprising reacts by saying ‘That’s not a bad idea’.
The clip of the 2006 interview is being circulated widely, bringing outrage against Renuka Chowdhary’s remarks. Once again the Domestic Violence Act is in question and the demands are high enough to filter out the biasedness it holds against the men after the tragic suicide of Atul Subhash.
Atul Subhash, a 34 year old software engineer from Uttar Pradesh took the extreme step of committing a suicide in his residence in Marathahalli, Bengaluru due to the alleged harassment of his wife and her family. Atul’s wife has charged him with a total of nine cases against him in Uttar Pradesh, charging him with murder attempts and dowry harassment.
Atul left behind a 24 page detailed death note where he detailed the harassment he went through accusing five individuals, including a family court judge Reeta Kaushik and his wife Nikita Singhania, of driving him to despair. He also uploaded a 1 hour 21 minutes long video with the caption “This ATM is closed permanently. A legal genocide is happening in India” where he touched upon the events that uncovered during recent months which compelled him to take the extreme step.
