Abdul Rahman Makki, the brother-in-law of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and deputy chief of the banned organisation, suffered a fatal heart attack in Lahore, Pakistan, on Friday. According to a member of the terror outfit JuD, Makki had been suffering from high diabetes and had been under treatment at a private hospital. He died of a cardiac arrest early in the morning.
“Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki passes away due to heart attack,” reports Pakistan’s Samaa TV.

Makki, a notorious figure had been active in Pakistan’s extremist circles. To throw dirt in the eyes of terror funding watchdog FATF, he was sentenced to six months in prison in 2020 by an anti-terrorism court on charges of terror financing. Following his sentencing, he maintained a low profile, reportedly focusing on internal matters within the banned organisation. Despite his incarceration, he remained active as an ideological figure for the JuD.
Makki’s death comes after his designation as a global terrorist by the United Nations in 2023. This designation subjected him to strict sanctions, including an asset freeze, travel ban, and arms embargo, underscoring his role in financing and supporting terrorism.
Makki was the brother-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks that claimed 166 lives. It made him a wanted figure in the region’s terrorism network. Saeed, too, has been sanctioned by the international community and has been jailed on similar charges.
It is pertinent to note that several anti-India elements and terrorists, who spilled bloods of innocent citizens in India, had been dropping dead like flies in Pakistan, and elsewhere globally. While the Western lobby has been spearheading a motivated campaigning asserting that the Modi government is carrying out “extra-judicial killings” on foreign soil, New Delhi has categorically denied the allegations. The fact, as it stands today, is that unknown gunmen, unknown individuals have been held responsible for these mysterious deaths of terrorists and anti-India elements.
