Banks in India will remain closed for 17 days in December 2024 on the occasion of the below-mentioned national and/or regional holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a calendar of these holidays to help customers plan their visits to banks in advance.
However, when the banks are closed, ATMs, internet banking, and UPI services would continue.
Following is the state-wise list of bank holidays in December 2024 —
December 1, Sunday: Weekend holiday throughout India.
December 3, Tuesday: Banks in Goa will remain closed on the Feast of St. Francis Xavier.
December 8, Sunday: Weekend holiday throughout India.
December 12, Thursday: Banks in Meghalaya will remain closed on account of Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma.
December 14, Saturday: Second Saturday holiday everywhere in India.
Sunday, December 15: Weekend holiday all over India
Wednesday, December 18: Banks will be closed in Meghalaya on account of U SoSo Tham Death Anniversary
Thursday, December 19: Banks in Goa will be closed on Goa Liberation Day
Sunday, December 22: Weekend holiday all over India

Tuesday, December 24: Christmas Eve: Banks closed in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya
Wednesday, December 25: Christmas Day—holiday all over India.
December 26 (Thursday): Christmas holidays for Banks in Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya
December 27 (Friday): Christmas holidays for Banks in Nagaland
December 28 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday across India
December 29 (Sunday): Weekend holiday across India
December 30 (Monday): Banks closed for U Kiang Nangbah in Meghalaya.December 31 (Tuesday): Banks will be closed in Mizoram and Sikkim for New Year’s Eve/Namsoong/Lossong.
These closures vary from state to state, and, therefore, the customers need to plan accordingly. Even though the bank branches are closed, other banking services like ATMs, online banking, and UPI will be available without a disruption. This list of holidays includes national holidays like Christmas and regional celebrations such as Goa Liberation Day, U Kiang Nangbah, and various others.
The practice by the RBI always helps costumers and the bank employees to plan their moves in the given month.
