The year was 1971. India armed and trained the guerrilla force known as the Mukti Bahini, who went up to fight Pakistani forces to the invasion of East Bengal by the Indian Army. India did its every bit in helping Bangladesh achieve its independence from the clutches of Pakistan. The liberation of Bangladesh can be considered one of the biggest achievements of the Indian state, as it successfully balkanized the ‘terrorism powerhouse’ and its major enemy. 1971 gave a sense of relief that the eastern borders of India are now safe given East Pakistan has been eliminated with the formation of Bangladesh. But can the Indian state feel the same relief after 5th of August, 2024? On 5th August, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was violently ousted and she was forced to leave Bangladesh. stepped down that led to Muhammad Yunus takeover of Bangladesh, which is now termed ‘New Bangladesh’.
The New Bangladesh is no different from Pakistan. It harbors the same amount of hate against India and Hindus like Pakistan, maybe even more. It treats its minorities no differently from Pakistan, maybe even worse. Likewise, Bangladesh is turning out to be another terrorism factory. It won’t be wrong to mention New Bangladesh as New Pakistan, maybe worse.
Everything that has happened in Bangladesh after 5th August makes it abundantly clear that Bangladesh is in the process of becoming the worst version of Pakistan and is really concerning for India and Hindus.
Hamas, Taliban, and Pakistan Attend Islamist Event in Dhaka
On the 7th of October, a major religious event took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where many Islamist leaders from terrorist groups such as Hamas, the Taliban, and Pakistan were present. The religious event was organized by Al Markazul Islami. Sheikh Khaled Quddumi, a senior spokesperson, and Sheikh Khaled Mishal, Chairman of Hamas’ Political Bureau, were too present at the event. Additionally, influential Islamist figures from Pakistan were present, such as Shaikhul Islam Mufti Taqi Usmani and Maulana Fazlur Rahman, both of whom are significant players within the country’s radical landscape. Sermons were also delivered during the event, which promoted Islamist objectives.
The founder of the organization that organized this event is nobody but Mufti Shahidul Islam, who died in 2023. Mufti had direct connections to al-Qaeda and was involved in the 1999 deadly bomb attack that took place in the Ahmadiya mosque in Khulna, which took away eight lives. These events are somewhere backed by the Md Yunus Government. Backing Islamist events, backing Islamists happens to be the primary objective of Naya Bangladesh. There are Islamists who are being made free at the time of ongoing genocide of Bangladeshi Minorities.
Release of Jashimuddin Rahmani
Muhammad Yunus Government released Jashimuddin Rahmani, who happens to be the chief of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), an al-Qaida-affiliated terrorist outfit. Jashimuddin Rahmani is also the one who plotted terrorist attacks on India. Rahmani was jailed for murdering blogger Rajib Haider but was released on parole by the present caretaker government of Bangladesh led by Md Yunus. He was released from Gazipur’s Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, where he had been lodged since August 2013. He was also accused of multiple killings of secular bloggers and journalists between 2013 and 2016.
Persecution of Bangladeshi Hindus and Minorities
After Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country and Muhammad Yunus took over Bangladesh, reports from across Bangladesh paint a grim picture of the situation for Hindu communities since then, who are being constantly targeted because of their religious identity. The Daily Star, a leading Bangladeshi newspaper, mentioned that Hindus have been attacked and persecuted in at least 27 districts of Bangladesh. These attacks include mob violence, the burning of homes and businesses, vandalism of temples, and the desecration of religious idols. Local sources have confirmed that radical Islamist groups are seizing the opportunity to intimidate and expel Hindu families from their communities. The widespread targeting of Hindus has reignited fears of ethnic and religious cleansing within Bangladesh, an issue that has plagued the nation intermittently over the years. It has been over 2 months since Muhammad Yunus took control of Bangladesh, but the persecution/genocide of Hindus and other religious minorities continues.
