Union Minister Giriraj Singh has kicked off ‘the Hindu Swabhiman (Self-esteem) Yatra’ today (18th October). Renowned for being vocal and unapologetic for Hindu and nationalistic causes, Singh said it is to reunite the Hindus & send a message of maintaining religious harmony.
The Yatra starts on Friday from Seemanchal
The first phase of Giriraj’s Hindu Swabhiman Yatra:
October 18: Bhagalpur
October 19: Katihar
October 20: Purnia
October 21: Araria
It will conclude on October 22 in Kishanganj
Giriraj Singh claimed his yatra to be a Hindu Swabhiman Yatra which is way above party politics. Giriraj said “This yatra is for protecting the ‘dharma’, for uniting the Hindus. This yatra is not for threatening anyone or inciting violence. In Fact, this yatra is for stopping riots.”
It is pertinent to note that while several opposition parties have faced allegations of going overboard in the garb of protecting rights of the minorities, particularly Muslims, dubbed as Muslim appeasement, they usually have refrained from raising the plight of the Hindu communities, be it on the local front or worldwide which is all the more evident in Bangladesh where Bengali Hindus have been targeted, killed, their houses, temples businesses attacked. The very recent Bahraich communal violence where a Hindu boy was brutally killed & there are so many reported incidents where Hindus have suffered a lot. There are a lot
Giriraj Singh claimed that it is high time that Hindus should start uniting themselves. His Yatra emphasises that the opposition only wants to spread rumours & distract people’s attention from this Yatra.
However, his Yatra for the self-esteem of Hindu community has rattled the opposition parties who have started to target the BJP leader. The opposition alleged that this Yatra is to increase the vote bank, as Giriraj started this just before the Bihar assembly election. However the Union Minister Giriraj has always stood up for Hindu’s causes & rights.
Strikingly, the development has come at a time when the senior leadership of the BJP including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has been issuing appeals of unity while targeting the opposition’s divisive agenda of fragmenting the Hindu community on caste lines.
“You are seeing what is happening in Bangladesh. Those mistakes should not be repeated here… ‘Batenge to Katenge, Ek Rahenge to Nek Rahenge,” said CM Yogi Adityanath in the Agra rally.
Likewise, in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered to build a grand temple for Mata Sita, wife of Lord Ram, in Punaura, her birthplace.
The PM Modi also said “Agar Hum Batenge toh, baatne wale mehfil sajaenge”. (In case we get divided, the divisive people will celebrate.)
