The tragic killing of a Hindu devotee sparks communal clashes in Bahraich
On the 13th of October, at Rehua Mansoor village in the Hardi police station area of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, violence between two communities broke out during the Maa Durga immersion procession.
As the Maa Durga Immersion procession made its way toward Gauriya Ghat Islamist mob near a mosque asked them to stop the DJ music accompanying the procession. This request incited a heated altercation between the two factions. In the ensuing turmoil, Islamist miscreant started hurling stones at the procession and the Maa Durga idol. Amid the clash, rogue elements from the muslim side launched bullets upon the procession. Ram Gopal Mishra, a 22-year-old young boy, the son of Kailash Nath from Rehua Mansoor village, who was one the members of the procession got struck by gunfire at close range. Islamo-Leftists’s art of victim shaming
Following the incident, the Islamists-Leftists as expected have quickly resorted to usual to either ‘justify’ or ‘downplay’ the cold-blooded murder of Gopal Mishra by the Islamist mob. The perpetrators of this discourse have resorted to their customary victim-shaming tactics, employing insidious strategies that serve to deflect accountability from the aggressors while casting aspersions on the character of the victim.
Shyam Meera Singh, a notorious figure known for peddling derogatory posts against Hindus, attempted to justify the murder of Gopal Mishra. An X user named Mohammed Amir Raza celebrated the death of Gopal mishra and openly threatened the Hindu community of meeting the same faith if they try to celebrate their festivals in ‘Muslim areas’. Md Zubair, a repeat offender and who is known for inciting violence against Hindus by propagating edited videos tried to victim shame Gopal Mishra without putting an iota of blame upon the Islamist mob.
For Islamists, the deceased Hindu victims, Gopal Mishra in this case and Chandra Mishra – incidentally he too was 22 years old when he was killed for waving the Indian National Flag and several other Hindu devotees – were at fault, and their crime of exercising their Fundamental rights ‘justifiably’ attracted terrible fate they met.
A segment of netizens has expressed profound anger against the victim-shaming narratives and the attempts to rationalize the barbaric assassination of Gopal Mishra. Journalist Swati Goel Sharma posted a video on her twitter which showed a muslim man removing saffron flags and installing green ones. Retorting sharply to the Islamist narrative and posing a counter query, she asked, whether Islamist-Leftist will justify the shooting of this guy too like they are doing for the murder of Gopal Mishra.

Journalist Nirwa Mehta wrote, ‘Bhai, hara jhanda hata kar bhagwa lehraya toh goli maar doge kya?’ which translates to ‘Only because someone removes green flag and waves saffron flag, will you shoot him?
