Amid the ongoing diplomatic clash between India and Canada. The Indian authorities have now added a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) official named Sandeep Singh Sidhu to its list of fugitive terrorists sought for deportation.
This development comes as Justin Trudeau continues to promote allegations on India regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Who is Sandeep Singh Sidhu
According to reports, the man in question, Sandeep Singh Sidhu, is a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), and is currently employed with the Canadian Border Police (CBSA). His name has been included in the list for his alleged involvement in promoting terrorist activities in Punjab.
Sidhu has reportedly also been in touch with Pakistan-based Khalistan terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, as well as other operatives of Pakistan’s intelligence services in an effort to execute the killing of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 2020.
Balwinder Singh Sandhu was known for his fight against Khalistani terrorists during Punjab’s decade-long militancy, to become an icon of resistance in the separatist movement. Sandhu had also been awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his acts of bravery. He was also active in opposing Khalistani referendums in the US and Canada by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
Sidhu’s terror links
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) have informed that the masterminds behind the killing of Sandhu were Canada-based Khalistani operatives Sunny Toronto and Pakistan-sheltered terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Rode. It is speculated that Sunny Toronto is the alias of Sandeep Singh Sidhu.
Despite his alleged involvement in the killing, Sandeep Singh Sidhu was instead promoted to the rank of superintendent at the CBSA. This promotion has been considered as extremely concerning according to the Indian government officials. The authorities are now pressing Canada for Sidhu’s immediate deportation. Indian officials have submitted evidence to Canada with extensive details of Sidhu’s terrorist links, and his deep association with Khalistani elements both in Canada and abroad.
Sandeep Singh Sidhu’s alleged role in orchestrating acts of violence extends beyond the 2020 assassination. According to Indian intelligence, Sidhu has been actively collaborating with pro-Khalistan terrorists, including USA-based Gurjot Kaur, who is linked to Pakistan ’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Gurjot Kaur, a radicalised operative and the widow of slain Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harmeet Singh, is said to be collaborating with ISI officers.
Sidhu’s inclusion in the list comes after Ottawa had named the Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma, along with other diplomats, as “persons of interest”, in the killing of Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Consequently, the ambassador and other diplomats became a target for the radical Khalistanis who used this opportunity to harass and threaten the officials, as the diplomatic tussle continues to spiral out of control.
