The results of the Haryana assembly elections are out, and the BJP has returned to power for the third consecutive term by winning 48 out of total 90 assembly seats.
In the 90-member assembly, the Congress got stuck at 37, while the BJP got 2 more seats than required for the simple majority in the house.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO in New Delhi.
BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli is also in the national capital.
Discussions are on between the BJP high command and the party’s Haryana leadership to form the next government in the state.
A large number of BJP leaders, workers and supporters had gathered at the party national headquarters in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed them in a glittering ceremony.
Naib Singh Saini took over as Chief Minister of Haryana in March this year replacing Manohar Lal Khattar. Khattar had served as CM of the state for nine and a half years.
He was brought in the central government with the charge of Ministry of Power and Housing and Urban Development.
This formula of the BJP proved to be a hit just like in Uttarakhand, Tripura and Gujarat where the public defying all the exit polls, made BJP the victorious party.
With its 48 assembly seats, the BJP has got the support of three more MLAs. One of them is Savitri Jindal, who comes from an industrialist family of Hisar.
Savitri Jindal and her son were in Congress earlier, but later they joined the BJP.
Similarly, Devendra Kadian, who won from Ganaur assembly constituency, was a BJP leader. He comes from a political family. His father Satbir Singh Kadian, chairman of IFFCO, was the assembly speaker during the INLD rule.
Devendra sought a ticket from BJP contest election this time around, but he did not get one. Last time, he lost the election as a JJP candidate.
Similarly, Rajesh June contested from Bahadurgarh assembly seat and defeated BJP leader Dinesh Kaushik by with a big margin. As Congress denied ticket to him to contest polls, June fought the elections as an independent and won.
Meanwhile, Nayab Singh Saini is certain to get the charge as Chief Minister, but it’s yet to be seen who all would make it to the state cabinet.
Rajesh June and Devendra Kadian have officially met BJP leaders and announced their support to the party.
