Actress Chahat Khanna, who gained popularity with Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar’s TV serial ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, and had converted to Islam, has done Gharwapsi as she returned to the folds of Hinduism.
In an interview, Chahat talked about how her husband Farhan Mirza forced her to convert to Islam against her wish.
Expressing happiness on the development in her life, the actress said that she is very happy to have returned to ‘Sanatan Dharma’.
“I am lucky that I returned to Sanatan Dharma,” she said.
First, she married to businessman Bharat Narsinghani in 2006 but got divorced after a few months. After this, the actress married Farhan Mirza, son of film script writer Shahrukh Mirza, and converted to Islam.
However, in 2018, she got divorced citing sexual abuse and mental harassment.
In her 43-minute long interview, Chahat said that she is a devotee of Lord Krishna and Maa Kali.
“It took me 4-5 years to come back to Hinduism. I still like some things of Islam but still I returned to my roots. I consider myself lucky that I returned to Sanatan Dharma,” she was quoted as saying.
Chahat also said that she was brainwashed to embrace Islam.
“…I don’t know what it was but I can say this that I was brainwashed, she said, adding she was completely forbidden to worship her god.
‘Worship of God was forbidden’
Chahat told that a number of people were against her converting to Islam but she changed her religion.
“I was not allowed to worship my God. I was told that it was not right, she added.
Chahat was brainwashed
Regarding her journey of embracing Islam and returning to ‘Sanatan dharma’, Chahat said that she was misled.
“…because when you are a child or in a situation where you can be influenced easily and you are told that what you are doing is wrong, then you get misled,” she explained how she agreed to become Muslim.
