The on-going three-day US visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been remarkable as his meetings with the world leaders, interaction with business heads and the people of Indian origin have resulted in lots of positivity for India.
Jensen Huang, CEO Nvidia Corporation, an American multinational and technology company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, after meeting the Prime Minister said that India is at a crucial point in time to seize the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI).
“This is India’s moment. You have to seize the opportunity,” he was quoted as saying in the media reports.
Huang was one of 15 tech leaders who met Modi during his visit to the US.
He also expressed his personal admiration for Prime Minister Modi’s deep interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI.
“The Prime Minister is an incredible student. Every time I meet him, he wants to learn more about technology and artificial intelligence, the potential and opportunity for India, and the impact on India, society, and industry,” Huang said.
Interestingly, the BJP has a history of having tech savvy leaders – LK Advani, Pramod Mahajan and now Modi, who has been recognized as a very tech-friendly person by many in the world.
The meeting, held on September 22 at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, was attended by the heads of some of the world’s biggest tech companies, including Sundar Pichai of Google, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, and Arvind Krishna of IBM, reports said.
“AI democratises computing, and this is India’s moment,” he said, highlighting the importance of technology in creating new opportunities for all.
Similarly, Modi’s meetings with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida ended on expected lines. He discussed with them the issues of mutual and of interbnational importance.
Modi’s diaspora event in New York was also hit with the venue having no vacant seat. In fact, Modi apologized to people who could not get opportunity to be a part of the function.
“I would meet them during my next visit,” he said.
