Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Japan also expressed his gratitude for being part of the ceremony, acknowledging the remarkable progress in India’s automotive sector under the strong leadership of PM Modi in the past decade. He highlighted that India has now become the seventh-largest automotive market globally, with significant growth in production and exports.
Suzuki Japan’s production in India is expected to increase by 1.6 times, with a corresponding 1.7 times surge in exports for the current fiscal year. Suzuki is set to invest Rs. 3,200 crore in Gujarat for a new production line, aiming to manufacture 2.5 lakh units annually and increase overall production from 7.5 lakh to 1 million units. Suzuki’s commitment extends to a Rs 35,000 crore investment for a second car plant in Gujarat, projected to add another 1 million units annually, bringing the total annual production to an impressive 2 million units.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd, warmly welcomed participants at the inauguration of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has also unveiled his plans for an impressive investment exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore in Gujarat, primarily focused on establishing a vast green energy park, anticipated to be visible from space. The businessman highlighted that this substantial investment is expected to generate around 1 lakh jobs. Adani emphasized India’s remarkable economic achievements since 2014, citing a significant 185 percent growth in GDP and an unprecedented 165 percent surge in per capita income, despite formidable geopolitical and pandemic challenges.
N Chandrasekharan, Chairman of Tata Sons, announced that the Tata Group is set to build a semiconductor factory in Dholera, Gujarat. Chandrasekaran further revealed plans for a 20 GW gigafactory for manufacturing lithium-ion batteries in Sanand, with construction set to commence in the next two months. The group is also on the verge of concluding negotiations for a “huge semiconductor fab” in Dholera, aiming to start operations in 2024. Besides this prominent business tycoons like Shankar Trivedi, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Jeffery Chun and N Chandrashekaran also spoke about their upcoming and existing projects in the state.
