In the world of cinema, where actors often opt for exotic, overseas wedding destinations, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and his partner Lin Laishram chose a different path. They got married in Imphal, Manipur, embracing traditional Indian wedding customs. At the wedding, Randeep stood out in his native Manipuri attire, making a remarkable entrance with music and surrounded by loved ones. Clad in white, he embodied the essence of a Manipuri groom, accompanied by his family and relatives.

Lin’s attire was especially notable; she wore a Potloi or Polloi, a unique cylindrical skirt made from heavy fabric and reinforced with bamboo. This skirt is often embellished with satin, velvet, jewels, and sparkling elements, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Manipur. Prior to the wedding, Randeep and Lin, along with their families, had visited the Relief Camp at Moirang Lamkhai and the Sendra Tourist Resort. During a conversation with a journalist, Randeep shared insights into his relationship with Lin and expressed his eagerness to immerse himself in the traditions of Manipur. This interaction highlighted his genuine interest and excitement about experiencing and honoring his partner’s cultural heritage, marking a significant departure from the often extravagant and publicized nature of celebrity weddings.
Randeep expressed his happiness about marrying Lin Laishram in her native Meitei tradition, acknowledging it as a sign of respect. He humorously mentioned the lengthy sitting required in Meitei weddings, showing both his anticipation and slight apprehension. He emphasized his eagerness to immerse himself in his partner’s culture, reflecting on the importance of experiencing it firsthand.

He also shared his hopes for the future, including a happy life together, children, and prosperity. Lin Laishram recounted how she met Randeep Hooda at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group, Motley, where he was her senior. Their friendship gradually evolved into a romantic relationship. Recently, Randeep announced their wedding plans on Instagram, set for November 29 in Imphal, followed by a reception in Mumbai. He drew a parallel with a story from the Mahabharata, where Arjuna marries Manipuri Princess Chitrangada, to illustrate their cross-cultural union.
Although Randeep and Lin had not publicly confirmed their relationship, they frequently shared photos on social media, hinting at their bond. They celebrated Diwali together, sharing joyful pictures, and Lin posted a birthday wish for Randeep, calling him her “hot fudge.”
In 2022, Randeep appeared to make their relationship official on Instagram with Diwali photos, including his parents. Lin’s career in Bollywood began with a cameo in ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), and she has since appeared in several films like ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Axone’.
