This announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only confirms Bharat’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics but also underscores the nation’s keen interest in hosting the 2030 Youth Olympics. It’s a testament to India’s growing stature on the global sports stage.

Bharat is hosting the IOC session for the second time, and this momentous event comes after a gap of about 40 years, with the last one being the IOC’s 86th session held in New Delhi in 1983. This significant event showcases our commitment to the Olympic movement and its ambition to become a prominent player in the world of sports.

Bharat has a commendable track record when it comes to hosting multi-sport events. Having laid the foundation for the Asian Games, with the sole exception of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, our nation has successfully hosted several sporting events. A recent highlight was the triumphant organization of the MotoGP, showcasing our capability to handle global sports events with aplomb.

Notably, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, has himself affirmed that India has a strong case to be awarded the 2036 games. He enthusiastically stated, “there is a strong case for the reasons I am giving and seeing how India is flourishing and developing, and how India now is embracing Olympic sports. So, there is great potential for both. India can play a much more important role in the Olympic movement, and for the Olympic movement to have such growth potential as with India. It’s, of course, very welcome.”

These words from the IOC President underline the immense potential India holds in the world of sports. It is an acknowledgment of Bharat’s growing influence and dedication to embracing Olympic values.

The bid to host the 2036 Olympics is not just about sports; it’s about a nation’s aspiration to be a global leader, to showcase its capabilities on a grand scale, and to bring people from all corners of the world together through the spirit of sportsmanship. It’s a dream that resonates with every Indian, from the young aspiring athletes to the sports-loving common man.

The road ahead will undoubtedly be challenging, but it’s a journey that India is prepared to undertake with unwavering determination. The bid for the 2036 Olympics represents a golden opportunity to prove to the world that India is not only a land of diverse cultures but also a nation that can host and celebrate the world’s most significant sporting event.

The entire nation is gearing up for this monumental endeavor. From upgrading infrastructure to nurturing young talent, the wheels have been set in motion. India’s bid for the Olympics isn’t just about hosting a sports event; it’s about creating a legacy, inspiring generations, and showcasing the spirit of a resolute nation.

As we look ahead to 2036, there’s a sense of excitement, hope, and unwavering belief that this dream can become a reality. With Prime Minister Modi’s resolute pledge and the backing of the IOC, India stands at the cusp of an incredible journey, one that can leave an indelible mark on the world of sports.

In the words of the IOC President, India has the potential to play a pivotal role in the Olympic movement. The journey to 2036 is an opportunity for India to step into that role and make a significant impact on the world stage. As the nation unites behind this dream, we are poised to embrace the challenges, celebrate the successes, and create history as we host the 2036 Olympics, an event that promises to be a testament to India’s spirit, diversity, and commitment to excellence in the world of sports.
