Boycott Shubh: Sometimes, all it takes is one effort, just one effort to make the change. Shubhneet Singh, also known as Shubh, experienced this firsthand a couple of months ago, and today, he is paying a hefty price for the same!
Moj Takes a Stand
Indian short video-sharing platform Moj, owned by Sharechat, recently made a bold decision. They announced the removal of songs by Shubh from their platform. Sharechat, the parent organization, didn’t mince words when it came to explaining their stance.
In an official statement, Sharechat expressed its commitment to being a proud Indian brand that supports the creator community. However, they also made it clear that they have zero tolerance for artists who promote divisive content. Their statement emphasized, “Moj is a proud Indian brand deeply committed to fostering a vibrant creator community. In alignment with our values, any artist propagating divisive content has no home on our platform.”

boAt boycotts Shubh!
Moj wasn’t alone in taking a stand. On September 19th, the Indian consumer electronics brand boAt announced its decision to withdraw its sponsorship from an upcoming tour featuring the Canada-based singer known as Shubh. BoAt made its position crystal clear.
The company stated, “At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first & foremost a true Indian brand. Therefore, when we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour.”
Adding to the wave of opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers in Mumbai took a proactive stance. They removed posters advertising the concert and called for the event’s cancellation. The BJYM left no room for ambiguity, asserting that there’s no place for Khalistan supporters in India.

Even cricketers follow suit
In an interesting development, some prominent cricketers, including Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya, made a subtle move on social media. They unfollowed the controversial singer Shubh on their Instagram accounts. While the motives behind this action remain unspoken, it’s hard to ignore the significance of their decision.
Canadian-Sikh singer Shubhneet Singh’s much-anticipated India tour met an unexpected fate. Mounting anger among Indian citizens over his alleged support for Khalistan led to the cancellation of the tour. BookMyShow, a popular online event ticketing website, announced the refund of ticket amounts to those who had purchased tickets for the concert.

Shubh’s total boycott sends a strong message not only to him but also to fellow singers who might believe they can engage in divisive actions without consequences. It raises questions about the stance of other artists like Garry Sandhu, Gippy Grewal, and AP Dhillon, and whether they will face similar scrutiny.
Shubh’s story is a vivid example of how one action can trigger a chain of events with significant consequences. It underscores the importance of being mindful of one’s actions and the potential impact on one’s career and reputation. Shubh’s experience serves as a powerful reminder that actions have consequences, and in today’s interconnected world, they can reverberate far and wide.
