UP-Nepal border Madrasas: In a bid to crack down on questionable madrasas that seem to be popping up faster than roadside vendors selling chai, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is on an action spree. With an eye as sharp as an eagle’s and a determination that could rival a marathon runner, the UP administration is taking on issues ranging from dhabas to Rohingyas, and now, the illegal madrasas that dot the state’s borders with Nepal.
Now, one might wonder what could possibly be the connection between madrasas and our neighbor, Nepal. Well, it seems that the UP government has cracked the code and discovered how the tentacles of Islamism have been creeping into the neighboring nation. The evidence is as clear as daylight – the number of mosques and madrasas that have sprung up along the borders of UP and Bihar.
Many problems, one solution!
But hold on, this is where the superhero of the story emerges – Yogi Adityanath! While some might accuse his Bihar counterpart, CM Nitish Kumar, of being as relaxed as a cat on a sunny afternoon, Yogi has been anything but lax. In fact, he has been as vigilant as a watchdog since the word go.

Last November, a simple analysis revealed that over 1500 madrasas were operating with questionable sources of funding, particularly in towns near the UP-Nepal border. The UP government, like a bloodhound following a scent, ordered district magistrates to conduct a probe into the funding of these unrecognised madrasas that seem to be generously supported by zakat (money from charity) and donations. Ah, the audacity of some institutions to rely on charity money while the poor people around them are struggling to put two square meals on the table!
The government’s action comes on the heels of a survey conducted to identify these elusive madrasas. The report, submitted on November 15, revealed the not-so-surprising revelation that these madrasas were thriving on mysterious funding sources. The government promptly issued directions to recheck the sources of funding for these cheeky establishments.
No room for laxity!
Now, don’t think the fun ends here! The UP administration has not only ordered an investigation into the funding but has also demanded that these madrasas produce their requisite papers. It’s almost like they are preparing to conduct a Madrasa Olympics – who can provide the most legitimate paperwork, ladies and gentlemen?

The deadline for submission of the investigation report was set for July 13, and we can only imagine the flurry of activity that must have ensued in these madrasas, trying to get their paperwork in order. The UP administration is all set to nip this new menace in the bud, and you can almost hear them say, “Game over, madrasas!”
In conclusion, as the Yogi government takes on the challenge of questionable madrasas at UP-Nepal border, it seems like they have truly embraced the adage “If you want something done right, do it yourself!” With their relentless pursuit of the truth behind funding sources and requisite papers, they are proving to be quite the watchdogs for UP’s security. So, let’s sit back and watch the UP administration sweep away the cobwebs of secrecy from these madrasas and restore transparency in their operations. After all, it’s the season of action, and Yogi Adityanath and his team are here to set the record straight – one dhaba, one Rohingya, and one madrasa at a time!
