Bharat Mata Temple, also known as Mother India Temple, is a unique temple located in Haridwar, one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India. Situated on the banks of the Ganges, this temple welcomes people of all religions and tourists, due to which a large number of devotees visit here every year. This Temple is 180 feet high and has eight storeys. Each floor of this temple is associated with the mythology of the deities. Bharat Mata Mandir is also dedicated to all the patriotic freedom fighters who contributed to the independence of the country.
History of this Temple
Mother India Temple was inaugurated in the year 1983 by the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. Earlier this temple had only a few floors but, in later times it was made an eight storey temple. Considered a sacred temple as well as a temple dedicated to patriots and freedom fighters. The height of this temple is about 180 feet and there is a lift to go to every floor.Bharat Mata Temple is a famous multi-storied temple of India which is 180 feet in height while classified into eight floors.
The idol of Bharat Mata and a big map of India are installed on the first floor or bottom of the Mother India Temple. The second floor houses a number of statues of patriots, including Rani of Jhansi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, etc. The third floor is called the ‘Matri Mandir’ dedicated to all maternal figures in Indian history.
The fourth floor features the great saints of various religions of India including Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism. The fifth floor has a huge hall, which is adorned with paintings depicting the history and beauty of different provinces. The sixth floor is known as the ‘Shakti Mandir’ where Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Durga, Goddess Parvati are worshipped. The seventh floor is dedicated to Lord Vishnu which houses a statue of his ten incarnations. There is a temple of Lord Shiva in the eighth and last storey.

Mother India Temple is open daily from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm for devotees and tourists to visit, during this time you can come to visit Bharat Mata Mandir Haridwar anytime.

By Air- The nearest airport to Mother India Temple is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is at a distance of 41 km from Haridwar. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Train- The Nearest railway station from Mother India Temple is Haridwar railway station which is at a distance of few kms. From here also you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Road- Haridwar is very easily accessible by road from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. State transport buses are connected to these routes. Haridwar is 222 kilometers away from Delhi and you can reach here after completing a bus journey of five to six hours.
