Satna Maihar Mata Temple – Guide
Maihar Mata Temple is located in Maihar city of Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. This ancient temple of Maihar Mata is known for the worship of Maa Sharda Devi. Temple situated on the highest hill of Trikuti, is also known for Indian classical music. The most special thing about Maihar Mata Temple is that this temple of Goddess Sharda is the only temple located in India.
Satna Maihar Mata Temple is one of the holy places dedicated to almost all the Gods and Goddesses of Hinduism. This temple is also known as Sharda Devi Temple. Temples of Lord Bala Ganapati, Lord Muruga and Acharya Sri Shankara are also established in the temple complex. Maihar Mata Temple has 1063 steps
History of this Temple
It is believed that Satna Maihar Mata Temple of Maa Sharda was the discovered by two warriors named Alha and Udal. Warriors Alha and Udal fought with King Prithviraj Chauhan. During this time he discovered the temple. It is believed that Alha did penance for 12 years in the temple. Due to which the mother was pleased and gave them a boon and it is believed that Alha and Udal are still alive for 900 years.
Another historical story revels that this temple was established in 502 Vikram Samvat. While the idol here was established in 559 Vikram Samvat. Guru Shukracharya was the first to worship in the temple. The great historian Kanindvam had researched about the temple and told that animal sacrifices were done here in ancient times. Later in 1922, Raja Brajnath Judeo of Satna banned animal sacrifice here.

Satna Maihar Mata Temple opens at 4:00 AM in the morning and close at 9:30 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 5:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.
