If you think that the citizens of Bihar and Tamil Nadu are having a hard time, wait till you see the sight of Bengal. Bombs and limbs flying in synchronization, murders happening at the drop of a hat, the state is in complete mayhem, and like the “Chaupat Raja” of “Andher Nagri”, Mamata Banerjee is completely oblivious of the destruction happening around her.
Analysing the current position in Bengal, and why Mamata Banerjee cannot pass the buck this time.
NIA to probe Howrah violence
Of late, Calcutta High Court has ordered National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation into the case. The Court also asked the authorities to hand over all the CCTV footages and FIRs to the NIA team withing two weeks.
On April 10, the High Court had taken the notice of a report submitted by the state police which suggested that the Ram Navami clashes were pre-planned. “The Howrah Police commissioner has filed a 54-page report, including annexures. Reports prima facie suggest that it was were pre-planned. There were allegations that stones were pelted from rooftops. Obviously, they were not carried there within 10 – 15 minutes,” a bench of acting chief justice TS Sivagnanam and justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya had said.

The Court was hearing the petition by the leader of the opposition in the state assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari that sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the violence that erupted in West Bengal.
“It’s a conspiracy!”
However, for Mamata Banerjee, the entire bout of vandalism, irrespective of origin, is just “another conspiracy to defame her government”. Well, none should be surprised, given how she defended the rioters who created mayhem in Bengal. Mamata Banerjee had attempted to give a clean chit to the perpetrators by first invoking their faith and second, blaming the violence on ‘outsiders.’ She insisted that Hindus should not venture into “Muslim areas” to carry out processions.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. A few days ago, when a minor girl was abducted, raped and murdered in the Dinajpur district, the police that had come to investigate had shown absolute insensitivity to the corpse, and dragged it along. The infuriated villagers whacked the villagers, black and blue. But for Mamata Banerjee, this also wasn’t a law-and-order problem, and she rather conveniently blamed the Biharis, who were doing this at the behest of the Central Government. Could someone please provide some phenyl? I need to sanitize my ears and eyes right now!
Running away is not an option
A video has gone viral in the Bengal region, wherein one can see the infuriated villagers gheraoing the thana and beating the police officials. They even burned the police station in question, as well as ruining some shops.
Now the question arises: Till when Mamata will continue to pass the buck? It is not tough for her to say that this is conspiracy and almost, always get away with it. However, with incidents of corruption, like the cattle smuggling scandal coming out, in which TMC hotshot Anubrata Mondal’s daughter Anubrata has been arrested by ED is also not something to miss. Will Mamata also call this a conspiracy?
