Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir – Guide
Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir Dedicated to 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanath, Delhi’s oldest Jain temple also known as Lal Mandir. A Manastambha pillar stands in front of the temple. The main devotional area of the temple is on the first floor.
History of this Temple
Old Delhi was founded by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (1628–1658), who built a walled city known as the Old City or Walled City, along with the royal residence, Chandni Chowk, the main street opposite the Red Fort. During the Mughal period, the construction of a shikhara was not allowed for the temple. The temple did not have a formal shikhara until it was extensively rebuilt after India’s independence.
Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir was visited in 1931 by the Jain monk Acharya Shantisagar, who is known to be the first Digambar Jain priest to visit Delhi after a period of 8 centuries and hence the temple complex to mark this auspicious event A memorial was also established inside.

Shri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir opens from 5:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the morning and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening.

Places to visit near this Temple
Red Fort – The Red Fort in Delhi, which was the capital of the Mughal emperors, is very beautiful and attractive. The Red Fort was built by Shah Jahan in 1638 AD. In this many samples of museum and traditional handicrafts will be seen.
Humayun’s Tomb – There is also Humayun’s Tomb to visit in Delhi. It was built by Humayun’s wife Haji Begum. This mausoleum is a sample of Mughal architecture.
Chhattarpur Temple – This is an ancient temple built in South Delhi. This temple is mainly dedicated to Goddess Katyayani.
Lotus Temple – There is no idol of any God in the Lotus Temple. Here you can worship your god.
National Rail Museum – If you have children with you then you can go to visit the Rail Museum. Here you will get to see old rail, toy train, diesel engine and steam engine driven train.
