Khandobachi Jejuri Temple – Guide
There is Khandoba temple in Jejuri Nagar in Pune district of Maharashtra. The name of this temple in Marathi is ‘Khandobachi Jejuri’. This temple is dedicated to Lord Khandoba. Who are also known by the names of Martand Bhairav and Malhari. This is also another form of Lord Shiva. The idol of Lord Khandoba installed in the temple is in the form of a warrior riding a horse.
History of this Temple
Khandobachi Jejuri Temple was started building in 1608 AD and fully completed in the year 1637 AD. Historians says that and it is also believed by the people that terror of two demon brothers named Malla and Mani had increased a lot on the earth. To end this terror of demons Lord Shiva took the form of Martand Bhairav. It is said that the Lord had cut off Malla’s head and left it on the steps of the temple, while Mani had asked the Lord for a boon for the welfare of mankind, so he left it. The mention of this legend is found in the Brahmanda Purana.

Khandobachi Jejuri Temple opens at 5:00 AM in the morning and close at 9:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 5:30 AM in the morning and madhyan aarti is performed at 12:30 PM in the afternoon and evening aarti is performed at 8:30 PM in the evening.

The famous Ganesh temple also known as Shrimath Dagdusheth Halwai Temple is a major attraction in Maharashtra. The idol of Lord Ganapati is 2.2 meters high and 1 meter wide and is adorned with about 40 kg of gold.
