Delhi Riot accused Tahir Hussain charged for Ankit Sharma murder

Tahir Hussain is charged with the murder of Ankit Sharma

The Karkardooma Court in Delhi recently framed charges against former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and ten others in the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma.

According to the court, Tahir Hussain repeatedly acted in a way that directed the mob. The court added that these actions were taken specifically to target Hindus.

According to Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Pulastya Pramachala, the mob was acting in a “well-planned manner to attack Hindus and their properties, indicating the existence of a prior meeting of their minds.” The judge also stated that Tahir Hussain instigated the mob to “not spare Hindus” and played the “role of instigator to kill Hindus.”

“All accused engaged in targeting Hindus, and their acts appeared to be prejudicial to the harmony between Muslim and Hindu communities,” the judge said. They disturbed the public tranquilly.” Tahir Hussain and 10 others were charged under Sections 147, 148, 153A, 302, 365, 120B, 149, 188, and 153A of the IPC. He has also been charged under Sections 505, 109, and 114 of the IPC.

The judge added, “Tahir Hussain instigated the mob when Ankit came forward towards this mob, and the conspiracy need not be specifically to kill Ankit. When the accused persons were acting in furtherance of a conspiracy and a common object to kill Hindus, it included the killing of Ankit for the same reasons that Ankit was killed because he was Hindu.” The judge stated that the mob regularly indulged in gunshots, stone-pelting, and throwing petrol bombs “against Hindus and the homes of Hindus.”

Previously, on February 27, 2020, the body of IB officer Ankit Sharma was recovered from a Khajuri Khas drain near the Chand Bagh pulia. In June 2020, the Delhi Police filed two chargesheets in the Delhi riots case. Tahir Hussain was named as the main conspirator in the chargesheet. The police investigation revealed that there was a “deep-rooted conspiracy” in the northeast Delhi riot.

According to police, “Tahir Hussain, an Aam Aadmi Party politician and sitting councillor in EDMC, played a pivotal role in the incident.” His younger brother, Shah Alam, was also arrested. During the investigation, Hussain’s licenced pistol, which he used during the riots, was seized.” With every passing trial date of Delhi riot-related cases, the culprits are inching closer towards their inevitable fate.
