Bakhorapur Mandir Arrah – Guide 

There is a grand Maa Kali Mandir in Bakhorapur of Barhara block of Arrah district. Due to its magnificence, and spread over a wide area, this temple has started to attract devotees and tourists. At the same time, once in a year, due to the cultural program on a large scale, people from regional artists to state level and national level artists also come to the court of Maa Kali to exhibit their art.

History of this Temple

According to the Bakhorapur Kali Mandir Trust Arrah, in 1862 there was a severe cholera outbreak in which more than 500 people died, only then a monk entered this village. After consulting the elders of the village, worship was started by establishing the nine bodies of Maa Kali behind the neem tree, after a few days the monk disappeared. Also, cholera was gradually eradicated from the village. Even today the Neem tree is present at the same place where the temple of Maa Kali has been established.

Bakhorapur Mandir Arrah Timings

Bakhorapur Mandir Arrah opens at 4:30 AM in the morning and close at 10:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 5:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.

Bisram

There is a temple here dedicated to the culture of Jainism. The name ‘Visram’ in Hindi is translated as ‘rest’. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavira, the 24^th Tirthankara and the most important deity in Jain culture.

Jagdishpur Fort

The fort is the residence of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, the foremost freedom fighter of the state. Jagdishpur Fort is located at the historical place of Jagdishpur, 30 km from Arrah. Known as the ‘Son of the Soil’, Babu Kunwar Singh was a prominent figure during the freedom movement of 1857.

Ara House

Ara House was built prior to 1857 by an engineer, Vicar Boyle, during the British rule, to be used as a billiards play place. The house is now included in the premises of the Maharaja’s College, which was established by the then king, Maharaja Shri Kamal Singh, as his father. It was made in remembrance.

Aranya Devi Temple

This is a famous temple in Arrah, dedicated to Goddess Shakti, who is also known as Van Devta.

Shiv Mandir

There is a very famous Shiva temple located in Brahmapur district, an hour’s drive from Arrah. The city is said to have been built by Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. It is said that the Shiva Linga here came out of the underground many years ago.
