A few days ago, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, attacked Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav, saying that the Samajwadi Party government ran a scheme called “One District, One Mafia’. He asked the former chief minister, ‘Which districts didn’t have mafia?’ While Akhilesh Yadav has denied the allegations, the former UP DGP has lifted the veil.
Former UP DGP’s big claim on Atiq Ahmed
The state of Uttar Pradesh has been on fire for the past few weeks over the gruesome murder of Umesh Pal Singh, the key witness in BSP MLA Raju Pal’s 2005 murder case. The blame is on mafia-politician and former Member of Parliament Atiq Ahmed and his aides.
Regarding the same, former DGP OP Singh raised a storm by revealing the political backing behind Atiq Ahmed. He has claimed that he could have ended Atiq Ahmed’s terror back in 1990 itself if there wasn’t political pressure to let him go.

When the former DGP raided Atiq’s den
Former DGP, who was posted as the SP City of Allahabad in 1990, told India Today that he had raided Atiq’s den along with a police team following an FIR registered against him. He claimed that during the raid, he and the police party accompanying him were forced to flee because they were surrounded by Ahmed supporters ready to shoot them down.
The former DGP has claimed that the entire police party could’ve been shot down by the mafia’s men had he not warned Atiq that if his supporters fired even one shot at the police party, both Atiq and his supporters would be shot down by the police.
Decoding the “political support”
The former DGP claimed that he wanted to arrest Atiq Ahmed then and there, but he had to leave due to political pressure. He says political pressure compelled his squad to leave without making any arrests. Probably such a huge mess would not have been created if Atiq had been arrested or shot down in an encounter with the police force.
The former DGP also revealed that he was praised for his work by the leaders of the Bhartiya Janata Party and the residents of Allahabad, ‘but the ruling party was supporting the mafia, which led to Atiq Ahmed’s rise as one of the most dreaded gangsters in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

In new footage, Atiq Ahmed’s son is seen firing at Umesh Pal
As per a recent report, the UP Police has got its hands on new 32-second CCTV footage in which Umesh Pal can be seen grappling with an attacker, who later fires at him. According to police, the attacker is none other than Atiq Ahmed’s son, Mohammad Asad.
The Samajwadi Party, which rose to power with the idea of socialism, is guilty of nurturing and protecting mafias under its rule, be it Atiq Ahmed or Mukhtaar Ansari. Only the name changes; the rest remains the same.
