Maa Annapurna Mandir located in Indore is considered to be one of the most famous and old temples. It also houses a 14.5 ft high idol of Lord Shiva in the lotus position. The architectural grandeur is reminiscent of the famous Meenakshi Temple, the grand entrance is adorned with four life-size statues of elephants with intricate carvings.

History of this Temple

Maa Annapurna Mandir is the oldest temple of Indore. The temple was built in the 9th century using a combination of Indo-Aryan and Dravidian architectural styles. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Annapurna. It houses a three feet high marble idol of Maa Annapurna. The incredible architectural style of the temple is influenced by the world famous Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. There are also temples dedicated to Lord Annapurna, Shiva, Hanuman and Kaal Bhairav ​​within the temple complex. Krishna Leela is depicted on the walls of the temple.
