Faiz Ahmed Faiz is notorious for the vile anti-Hindu verse ‘Hum dekhenge’. However, this bigoted man has gained a lot of admirers among the Bollywood cabals who eulogise and hail him as a legendary poet and what not.
Recently, the vocal Bollywood lyricist turned social commentator and politician Javed Akhtar participated in a session at 7th Faiz Festival in Lahore, Pakistan.

Notorious for weaving audiences in his rhetorical knots, he gave his piece of mind on what is language?
Mr Akhtar said, “Hamare yahaan jo zabaan ke thekedaar hai.. wo chahe Urdu ho ya koi language ho… kehte hain ye lafz nikaaliye ye hamara nahi hai… nikaalte rahiye… zubaan patli hoti chali jayegi ( Translation – There are some so-called messiahs of language on our side, either it’s for Urdu or some other language, they say remove this particular word because it is not ours… okay then you keep removing. In that case only your language will keep getting weaker).”
Currently, Pakistan is in a deep spot of bother. Even its iron brother China doesn’t trust it to be a safe place. Apparently, it has asked its citizens to leave the nation otherwise they are on their own. In such a case, this visit by Javed Akhtar is nothing but a mercy call to save Pakistan from this state of peril through the cliche of ‘Aman ki Asha’.
