Naulakha Mandir Deoghar – Guide
Naulakha Mandir is situated in Deoghar, a district of Jharkhand. It is about 1.5 km from the popular Baba Baidyanath Dham temple. The temple is so named because 9 lakh rupees were spent in its construction. The temple is dedicated to Radha-Krishna.
The architecture of Naulakha Mandir resembles the architecture of the Belur Math Ramakrishna Mission in Kolkata. The temple is 146 feet high. After 4 years of hard work, the temple was completed in 1940. The temple is also known as Jugal Temple
History of this Temple
Rani Charushila lost her son Jatindra Ghosh and husband Akshay Ghosh at a very young age. The incident deeply hurt her that she felt lonely and sad. One day she ran away from her home and set out in search of relief. When she left for Karnibad. She met Saint Balanand Brahmachari. The queen stayed at Balanand Brahmachari’s ashram for a few days. The saint then listened to his woes and suggested him to build Naulakha Mandir to get rid of his sorrows.
After talking to Balananda, the queen started feeling peace. He accepted the suggestion and donated Rs 9 lakhs for the construction of the temple. Later Queen Charushila took shelter of Saint Balanand. Charushila Devi built the temple under the direction of Saint Balananda.
He gave the leadership of the construction of the temple to the famous engineer of West Bengal Shri Kali Das Ram. Queen Charushila had built this temple in the memory of her beloved son. Probably that is why the idol of child Krishna is also present here.
