Gufa Wala Mandir Karnataka – Guide
The Badami Gufa Wala Mandir is an ancient cave temple located in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. A total of four caves are found under the Badami cave in Karnataka, in which the idols of different gods and goddesses have been carved in each of the caves. In these four caves, three caves are associated with Hinduism, while one cave is associated with Jainism.
History of this Temple
It is told about Badami Gufa Wala Mandir Karnataka with red stones that its architecture dates back to the sixth century. The first cave is a cave dedicated to Lord Shiva of Hinduism. Inside this cave, one can see the idol of Natarajan with 18 arms of Lord Shiva. The second cave under the Badami cave is a cave temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Apart from these, many paintings have been decorated here.
Many inscriptions from the 6th century are found in the third Badami cave. In this cave, the picture has also been shown in the form of painting of many gods and goddesses. This third cave is known as the bigger cave than all these caves. The fourth cave temple located here is associated with Jainism. The painting of the statue of Mahavira has been depicted in Gufa Wala Mandir of Karnataka.

Gufa Wala Mandir Karnataka remains open for tourists from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. In the meantime you can go anytime.

Places to visit near this Temple
Bhoothnath Group of Temples
Built of soft sandstone, these temples were built by the Badami Chalukyas between the 7th and 11th centuries. The temple is an exquisite display of Badami Chalukya architecture which is a perfect blend of northern and southern styles.
Mallikarjuna group of temples
Located right next to the Bhoothnath group of temples, the Mallikarjuna group of temples is a unique structure with its pyramidal shape. This temple was also built by the Badami Chalukyas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Badami Fort
Badami Fort is a famous archaeological attraction in Badami situated on a hill top and 2 km from the main city of Badami. This fort was built by the Chalukya king Pulakeshi.
Archaeological Museum
Located at the foothills of the Badami Fort, the Archaeological Museum is just a kilometer away from the Badami Bus Station. With Agastya Lake on the north side, this museum is a treasure house in which many magnificent artefacts have been preserved.
Augustya lake
Located at a distance of one km from Badami Bus Station, this beautiful lake was built in the 5th century. The local people suggest that this lake holds great spiritual and medical importance.
