Roja was born as Sri Latha in 1972 to Nagaraja Reddy and Lalitha in Tirupati, Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. She completed her Bachelor’s in Political Science from Sri Padmavati Women’s University in Tirupati. Roja learned Kuchipudi and performed in dance before entering films. Roja married Tamil director RK Selvamani on 10 August 2002. The couple has a daughter and a son.
Career
Roja entered the film industry from Telugu films. Her first film was Prema Thapasu with Rajendra Prasad. Roja joined the Telugu Desam in 1999 and was the president of the Telugu women’s wing of the party. She lost the 2009 legislative elections in Andhra Pradesh. In August 2009, she left TDP party and joined YSR Congress Party. In the 2014 general election, she was elected as the Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Nagari. He again challenged the election from Nagri constituency in 2019 election. The results were declared and he again won the seat.
Apart from acting and politics Roja also anchored a show called Modern Mahalakshmi before she was replaced by Anasuya. The show used to air on Maa TV. He is one of the judges of the comedy shows Jabardasth and Extra Jabardasth. This show is telecasted on E TV. He hosted a show called Luck Kika for Zee Tamizh which was a huge hit in Tamil Nadu. Currently she is serving as the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Youth Development in Andhra Pradesh.
She had acted in more than 100 films in all 4 languages of southern india namely Kannada,Telugu,Tamil and Malayalam and achieve her popularity from these movies. Roja’s 100th film was Pottu Amman.
