Khajuraho ka Mandir – Guide
Khajuraho ka Mandir in the Chatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh is a beautiful example of Indian architecture which was built during the reign of the Chandela dynasty i.e. between 950 to 1050 AD. With ancient history, this temple is a living example of India’s artistic and cultural heritage. Khajuraho Temples has many wonderful medieval Hindu temples. The sculptures and architecture of the temples are world famous and also a popular tourist destination in India.
History of this Temple
Apart from being the most famous tourist destination of India, Khajuraho ka Mandir is also an important historical place which often fascinates the history lovers as the history of Khajuraho temples is quite rich and ancient. It is known from the inscriptions of Khajuraho temples that these temples were built during the period from 950 to 1050 AD and the temples were built by the rulers of Chandela dynasty.
It is believed that every Chandela ruler built at least one temple during his lifetime. This means that all the Khajuraho Mandir were not built by any one Chandella dynasty ruler.

Khajuraho ka Mandir Timings
The darshan time in Khajuraho ka Mandir is from 8 am to 6 pm. The Light and Sound Show at Khajuraho Temple is organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department. Summer time from March to September is between 7.30 PM to 8.25 PM.

Ajaygarh Fort
Ajaygarh Fort, situated at an altitude of about 206 meters, is an important historical fort of Madhya Pradesh, which is located at a distance of about 65 kilometers from Khajuraho. The Ajaygarh Fort displays important architectural features of the Chandela dynasty. The fort is not only situated in the stunning Vindhya range but also has an interesting history. The fort served as the capital of the Chandela dynasty in the last few years of their reign.
Raneh Falls
Raneh Falls is another interesting attraction to visit in Khajuraho. It is located about 20 kilometers from Khajuraho and is located in Chhatarpur district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Raneh Falls is named after King Rane Pratap. It is a natural spring formed by the Ken river which is also known as Karnavati. This waterfall is surrounded by beautiful greenery and during monsoon the waterfall looks quite attractive. Raneh Falls is one of the best places to visit near Khajuraho.
Kalinjar Fort
A fascinating historical fort located in Kalinjar, Madhya Pradesh, Kalinjar Fort is one of the 8 most famous forts built by the Chandela rulers, situated at a height of 244 meters atop a deserted hill in the Vindhya ranges. This fort is one of the oldest forts in the country and the walls of the fort have stone carvings of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Shakti, Lord Bhairav and Lord Ganesha along with animals and birds. This fort is a popular place to visit in Khajuraho.

How to reach Khajuraho ka Mandir
By Air- khajuraho airport is the nearest airport from this temple and it is located at a distance of about 6 kilometers from Khajuraho ka Mandir. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Train- The Nearest railway station is Mahoba which is situated at a distance of about 63 km from Khajuraho temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.
By Road- Direct buses are available for Khajuraho from cities like Harpalpur, Jhansi and Mahoba. Regular bus and taxi services are also available from cities like Agra, Bhopal, Gwalior etc.
