Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Overview
The Brahmapureeswarar Temple is located in Tirupattur, Trichy, and the main deity is Shiva in the form of self-manifested Lingam. Shiva is called Brahmapurishwara because he changed the destiny of Brahma. Mother is called Brahmanayaki / Brahma Sampat Gauri. It is among one of the rare temples which is dedicated to Brahma. Shiva is the presiding deity of this temple, and Brahma is also present near him.

This temple opens at 07.00 AM to 12.00 Noon in the morning and from 04.00 PM to 08.00 PM in the evening.

History of this Temple
The snake-legged sage Patanjali, the author of the science of astrology, is believed to have attained salvation in the ten tirthas. Brahmapureeswarar Temple is one of them. His tomb is visible in the temple. He is believed to be alive and writing the Yoga Sutras. Kanchi Periyaval once said that Shiva handed over the Vedas to Ambika, and she handed them over to Brahma.
Brahma, in turn, gave the Vedas to Nandi, and they eventually reached the sages. This event is believed to have originated here as the temple is home to Brahmapureeswarar, Brahmanayaki, Nandi and Patanjali Rishi. That’s why the temple has special importance.
It is also in the history that once there was a dispute between Brahma and Vishnu about who is the best. He approached Shiva for intervention and the latter took the form of a huge Shiva Lingam. He said that whoever can see above or below the lingam and returns first will be considered superior. Vishnu took the form of a boar and dug deep to reach the bottom but failed to do so and then he accepted his defeat.
Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple is present in the sanctum sanctorum, and adjacent to this shrine is Goddess Parvati, depicted as Brahma Sampat Gauri. The deity of Brahma is seated on a lotus in meditation posture. His statue is six feet tall and all covered in turmeric. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram on the east side. A Veda Mandapam at the entrance has beautiful Dhwaja Stambham and Nandi. The main enclosure of the lingam in the sanctum is surrounded by seven gateways, each representing a day of the week.

Rockfort Temple
Rockfort Temple is one of the main tourist place to visit in Tiruchirappalli. The temple is located at a distance of just 5 kms from Trichy Railway Station. It is an ancient fort and its structure consists of huge rocks. Three famous Hindi temples are located in the premises of Rockfort, namely Thayumnavar Temple, Manikka Vinayakar Temple and Uchi Pillaiyar Temple.
Sri Ranganathaswami Temple
Located in Srirangam Town, Trichy, Sri Ranganathaswami Temple is one of the other Trichy famous places. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the major Hindu temples in the country. It is built in the Dravidian style of architecture and is a must-visit for all nirvana seekers and photo fanatics. The temple also has a royal temple tower and a hall with nearly 1,000 decorated pillars, learning about which on a guided tour is one of the best things to do in Trichy.

By Train- The nearest railway station from this temple is Tiruchirappalli Junction which is at a distance of 35 kms from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.
By Road- This temple is 30 kms from the entrance gate of Tiruchirappalli. Public buses are also available for transportation. Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle.
