Someshwar Temple, Timings and Overview
Someshwar Temple Mangalore is situated at a distance of 13 km from Mangalore and is situated next to Someshwara village. This temple is one of the twelve regions of our country. And because of this temple, this place is famous by the name of Someshwar.
History of this Temple
The Someshwar temple has a mythological history that talks right from the Tretayuga of the Ramayana period. According to beliefs, King Kharasura, who worshiped Lord Somnath, built the temple. He was a relative of Ravana. But historically, the kings of the Alupa dynasty built the temple in the 10th century AD.
Someshwar Temple was under the administrative rule of the Kadambas of Banavasi and the Cholula kings of Ullala in the 12th century. In addition, two inscriptions in the temple say that it was renovated in the 15th century by Rajaguru Sri during the time of Imadi Devaraya, the Vijayanagara king. Kriyashakti Devvodeya.
There are two famous inscriptions on the walls of the temple. One is on the pillars on the western side of the temple, while the other is on a small stone pillar near the Pakshala. Queen Abbakka was a worshiper of this temple and she donated Jaldhani about 450 years ago. It is well preserved in the temple and is used during the Jathra festival.

Someshwar Temple opens at 5 am to 1:00pm in the morning and 5:00pm to 8:00 pm in the evening.

These caves are also popular by the name of Pandava caves. Devotees also believe that the Pandavas came to this cave and stayed there.

By Air- Mangalore International Airport is the nearest airport from Someshwar Temple which is located at a distance of approximately 41 km away from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.
By Train- Mangalore is the nearest major railway station to the temple which is at a distance of approximately 13 kms. Also Ullala Railway Station is just at1 km from the temple. From here also you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.
By Road- Someshwar bus stop is at walking distance from the temple. And roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle.
