Shri Bhagvad Gita Park Canada: The Modi government has recently cautioned the Indians staying in Canada. The MEA noted that hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India activities have been on the rise in the western nation and asked the Indians to exercise due caution and remain vigilant. The MEA advisory also asked the Indian nationals staying in Canada to get registered with the High Commission of India in Ottawa, to ensure better connection in the time of emergency. But what kind of emergency? What is unfolding in Canada and why is India worried?
Shri Bhagvad Gita Park vandalised
On 2nd October, India had condemned the alleged hate crime against the Hindu community at a park in Canada, named Shri Bhagvad Gita Park. High Commission of India in Ottawa condemned the act in a tweet, and asked the Canadian authorities and Peel Police to investigate the matter and take prompt action on the perpetrators.

After the vandalisation of the newly unveiled Shri Bhagvad Gita Park, which earlier used to be Brompton’s Troyers Park, the mayor Patrixk Brown ordered a probe after confirming the incident. He said that the incident was flagged to the Peel Regional Police for further investigation.
However, later in a statement, Mayor Brown said that the sign was damaged during the installation, and a blank sign was placed until a new sign could be installed and with this he deleted the earlier tweet.

Shri Bhagvad Gita Park not a sole incident
Earlier, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir was also subjected to vandalism in Toronto. The mandir was not only subjected to vandalism but there were clear attempts to erase its identity. Moreover, anti-India and anti-Hindu slogans like ‘Khalistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad’ are seen graffitied on the walls of the Mandir. The incident drew flaks from all sides barring Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The first such incident was witnessed at the time of Truckers protest. On the 15th of January 2022, miscreants wreaked havoc in Shri Hanuman temple in Brampton, Greater Toronto Area (GTA ) city. After 10 days, Maa Chintpurni Mandir situated in the same city was also vandalised. After the 25th January incident, it became a routine affair for Pujaris and Bhakts to worship Bhagwan amidst fear of attacks. Mandirs were targeted one after another.
The sole culprit- Justin Trudeau
Every time any such unfortunate and dastardly crime is committed, while the Canadian authorities try best to shield, New Delhi has always asked for strict action. But something concrete has not been done by the Canadian Prime minister. Further, he allowed an anti-India movement to nourish itself on the Canadian soil. In september this year, over 100,000 Canadian Sikhs had gathered in Brampton, Ontario to vote for the Khalistan Referendum, which was organised by Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). As known to all, Khalistan referendum is a demand of carving out a separate country for Sikhs that contains areas of pre-1966 Punjab.
Trudeau’s anti-India and anti-Hindu moves are souring ties between the two nations. Trudeau for his vote bank politics has to depend on Jagmeet Singh, Trudeau’s political ally who is an open backer of Khalistan. It is Jagmeet Singh, who has instututionalised Khalisatni movement on the foreign soil. Trudeau has compromised Canada’s relations with India, and New Delhi is in no position to accept the anti-Hindu anti-India propaganda going on in Canada.
