Presenting to you, Bollywood’s first 200 crore Flop

Brahmastra

Brahmastra hit or flop?: There is always a problem with eye-pleasing bubbles, that is, they always burst. The Brahmastra team is relentlessly pushing its PR unit to throw big numbers to project it as a blockbuster hit. However, the devil is in the details. Even with its relentless PR campaign, it can’t hide from the raw truth. With the movie’s dismal performance, it will certainly be one of the costliest blunders the Bollywood cabal has undertaken so far.

Brahmastra flop: The artificial buzz dies a painful death

The Bollywood Cabal declared Brahmastra a blockbuster even before its release. It created an artificial buzz in pliable media portals claiming that it has bumper advance bookings. However, within a week of its release, the planted craze and frenzy faded. Its collection is witnessing a huge slump with every passing day and there are no clear signs of change in fortune for the movie in the coming days.

Its opening week collection speaks for itself. The collection includes earnings from the non-Hindi-speaking belt. It is interesting to note that every media portal and trade analysts are throwing different numbers. However, in all these different revenue projections, Brahmastra is falling short to achieve the break-even mark.

Day 1 (Friday)    Rs 36.42 crores
Day 2 (Saturday)  Rs 42.41 crores
Day 3 (Sunday)  Rs 45.66 crores
Day 4 (Monday) Rs 16.5 crores
Day 5 (Tuesday) Rs 12.68 crores
Day 6 (Wednesday) Rs 10.58 crores
Day 7 (Thursday) Rs 9 crores

As evident, the film failed to muster exemplary numbers on its opening weekend. Additionally, it could not pass the ‘Monday Test’. It is losing pace on the weekdays. Within the opening we,ek it has done a gross business of Rs 173.25 crores.

Low Occupancy adds to its worries

As per media reports, the Hindi version of Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva is failing to pull huge crowds to the theatres. On 15th of September, it witnessed an 11.77% occupancy. The numbers are worse for Hindi shows in 3D. The 3D version had a low occupancy around 8.36% occupancy in the Morning show, 10.20% in Afternoon show, 13.87% in Evening Show and 14.64% in Night Show. Furthermore, it is not getting traction in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

The way PR media was throwing big numbers to trick the audience became the reason for its mockery. Several netizens started busting its PR propaganda. Some even started circulating tweets stating that movie producer and Nepo-kids’ favourite uncle Karan Johar will become the world’s richest individual courtesy of bumper success of Brahmastra, not in reality but in articles of pliable media houses.

However the silver lining for the movie is that it has no major challenger this week. This week’s new releases include films like Chaar Yaar, Siya and Middle Class Love. So at best it can cover some of its losses. If the present downward trend continues it will enter in Rs 200 crore club making it a major disaster knowing the fact that it was made with a humongous budget of Rs 410 crores.

The PR team should stop pressing hard desperately as the movie has lost all the steam courtesy to its cliche Bollywood love story plot and other controversies. It should shun the urge to pick fights with Boycott groups as Brahmastra will be the first Rs 200 crore flop.
