Corruption is a social evil. Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In its simplest sense, corruption may be defined as an act of bribery or misuse of public position or power for personal gratifications. It is widespread cancer that has rotten the society to its core. In the hope to get rid of one corrupt leader, we end up electing even worse. Every politician projects himself or herself as the crusader against Corruption but ends up as an absolute disaster after coming to power. Back in the 1990s, a man rose to power in Bihar politics from the outskirts of Gopalganj district. Ironically, he rose the same slogan of anti-corruption. The so-called Messiah of the poor ended up making Bihar a den of corrupts and mafias.
In Lalu’s regime, Kidnapping became a full-fledged industry. Shootouts became an art form. Killing innocents became a child’s play. Extortion came as an integral human right for Dadas. Caste based politics started to prevail in every sector of Bihar. Be it education, politics, or employment, caste played a major role in deciding where one stood. Bahubalis became the law makers and started to rule the state through the barrel of their guns. Scams like fodder scam became a norm. People were silent spectators to the crimes of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The murders of common Biharis were shamelessly whitewashed. The fiasco around Lalu Yadav’s daughter’s wedding were glaring examples of open challenge to authorities. And thus began the infamous saga of Bihar’s Jungle Raj.

Legacy continues
Corruption, crime and scams have been the family business of the Lalu clan. RJD Supremo Lalu played his innings with his best attempts to corrupt everything around him. Now it is his son, who being the heir, is following their family traditions. He had been accused in IRCTC Scam in year 2018 and was out on bail in the case. But Karma seems to have struck back.
Tejashwi Yadav, the youngest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Deputy CM of Bihar, seems to be in trouble again and its good. As per reports, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday has proceeded to the Delhi court against the man in the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) scam case. The CBI is on the lookout for cancellation of bail granted to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader in the matter. Tejaswi Yadav was issued a notice by special judge Geetanjali Goel on the CBI’s plea.
With his back to the wall, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav resorted to threatening CBI officials just like his father used to do when he was in power. Tejashwi in his statement had said, “Kya CBI waalon ke maa bete nahi hain, unke pariwaar nahi hain? Kya wo hamesha CBI officer rahenge? Kya wo retired nahi honge? Kya satta mein hamesha ek hi ki sarkaar rahegi?”
The scam pertains to the maintenance contract IRCTC hotels. The CBI has framed 12 people and two companies in this scam. There were irregularities in the allotment of contracts of two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Odisha’s Puri in 2006. Allegedly, they were allotted to a private firm in lieu of a three-acre commercial plot at a prime location in Patna, the capital city of Bihar. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also filed a chargesheet in the case. The agency has accused them of money laundering.
Time is running out for Tejashwi Yadav
Tejashwi has wrested back the reins of state politics, having teamed up with Bihar’s best-known turncoat Kursi Kumar (Nitish) to be in power and stay relevant. For the second time in seven years, Tejashwi is Bihar’s deputy chief minister. In his association with his “Paltu Chacha”, the very moniker that he would use to previously describe Nitish Kumar, Tejaswi has set a high aim for himself.

In the dreams of becoming Bihar’s next CM, he is often found taking jibes and mocking BJP. But he seems to have forgotten his own scam that will land him in jail sooner or later. The reverse countdown has started for Tejashwi Yadav. It will be a death knell on his political career if he is found guilty in the case. Through this, it seems that he is truly following in the footsteps of his beloved father. The grave allegations and past track record of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s corruption suggest that Dal of jail awaits him.
