Brahmastra box office collection: Karan Johar’s magnum opus starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor BRAHMASTRA is currently the talk of the town. While a majority of section is boycotting the movie, there are still figures that show that Brahmastra is being liked by people and the film is running well at the Box-Office. Well, numbers speak facts and the credibility of numbers cannot be questioned. But, that’s not true for Bollywood. Why? You can understand it as I unravel the number mystery of Brahmastra.
Box office collection: Brahmastra– The emerging blockbuster
Brahmastra has been made with a humongous budget of Rs 410 crores. And it has been predicted that the film will emerge as a blockbuster. As in the past months many mega Bollywood films have been boycotted which has made them tank at the box-office. But the numbers presented to the media suggest that Brahmastra will survive despite the boycott and will rather emerge as a blockbuster.

A specific narrative is also being pushed that the ‘Boycott Gang’ has failed miserably and headlines like, ‘Brahmastra had a fabulous weekend’, ‘There is no stopping for Ranbir Kapoor’, ‘Brahmastra: The saviour of Bollywood’, ‘Brahmastra finally ended Bollywood’s dry spell’ are being published. This campaign is being run to look down upon the ones boycotting the film and to establish that the boycott call has failed. Well, the truth is entirely different.
Brahmastra box office collection: The ‘NUMBER’ Game
Well, all that a common movie goer hears is that a particular film entered the 100-crore club or the 150-crore club. Least attention is paid to the budget and the collection. The collection also has two bifurcations, within India and overseas.
The film opened on September 9 and box office collection of Brahmastra is around Rs 35 crore on the day of release. The film then went on to gross Rs 41 crore and Rs 42 crores in the weekend. However, the film failed to pass the ‘Monday Test’ as the day ended at Rs 16 crore and then went on to sink deeper with just Rs 12 crore on the next days. The 5-days total of the film stands at Rs 147 crores, with Hindi collection of Rs 130 crores.

Karan Johar at Brahmashtra’s rescue
With the aforementioned numbers it’s quite clear that the film’s collection is witnessing a downfall with each passing day. And the downtrend shows that the film would not witness a revival now. And it is only going to sink deeper in the coming weekend. The film will somewhere close around 180 crores, which ultimately makes it a flop. However, the media reports point elsewhere, why is this so? It’s because the one setting the narrative this time is the greatest influencer of India, who has all the stars on his side, the job provider of nepo kids- Karan Johar. Karan Johar with his money and international reach is striving his best to manipulate the numbers and somehow rescue Brahmashtra because he knows that in this scenario where movie is sinking down the line he has no option left other than trying his dirty gimmicks of fake numbers to survive in the buisness.
With his connections and money, Karan Johar released the big budget film made under Dharma productions on 9000 screens, with 6000 screens in India itself. And the film incurred huge losses to the likes of INOX and PVR. Still, the reports have been side lined and this is where money and power came into play.
Did the Boycott call fail in the case of Brahmastra? No! Is the film so marvellous that audiences were drawn to the theatres? Once again, No! And the movie reviews advocate for the same. So what is that which is keeping Brahmashtra afloat, specifically in the eyes of audiences, it’s just the Karan Johar factor. Brahmastra will go down in history as an average film that portrayed huge numbers, courtesy Karan Johar connection.
