India is a secular nation; however, it ceases to be once the person claiming his/her right happens to be a Hindu. No matter how many elaborations of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb have been narrated to the generation, it remains a myth that was being propagated to brush the Muslim appeasement practised by political parties under the carpet. And gradually it turned into a menace that was claiming the lives of Hindus. Hindus are having a hard time surviving in their own country called India and the recent case in point is a Hindu family from Mumbai which was thrown out of its home.
No Hindu can reside Muslim dominated areas
In Mumbai, a Hindu family residing in Muslim dominated area had to face the wrath of the minority community of India, apt to say the Islamists. In the B-ward of Bhendi Bazaar, Mumbai, Jagariya family, residing there for 80 years, had to pay the cost of being Hindu and following Sanatani rituals. For the last few years, the Islamists started harassing the Jagariya family and targeting them for their religious practices.
The Jagariya family was even forced for conversion. Alleging that the presence of a Hindu family in the locality would hamper their religion and religious practices, they were forced to convert to Islam.

Jagariya family thrown out of their home as they did not convert
As the Hindu family refused to convert, the neighbours from the minority community who dominated the area started heckling the family. They were given threats and were asked to leave the area. It is to be noted here that the entire B ward area of Bhendi Bazzar is Muslim dominated and the Jagariya family is the lone Hindu family in the entire locality. What added to the problem is the Jagariya family being vocal against cow slaughter and radicalisation going on in the region.
On not toeing the line, the Hindu family was forcefully thrown out of their home overnight, in which the family was residing since 1944. The family consists of two senior members and one lady, Sarika Jagariya who is a yoga teacher by profession.
BMC hand in glove with Islamists
The victim has even claimed the involvement of BMC officials and Police officers in the whole incident. Despite several complaints, the family received no help. As per the victim’s narration, the Police had misbehaved with the family.
When the Jagariya family adopted the legal route and sought help from the BMC, the BMC officials are alleged to have demanded a bribe of 25 lakhs. Sarika Jagariya, coming from a middle-class family could not afford such a huge sum and this is how she was forced to live on the streets.
Finally, Hindus came to rescue
While the family was denied help from every official door they knocked. Finally, the Hindu community came for their support. The family approached the local offices of prominent Hindu bodies like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Hindu Mahasabha, from there the final help arrived. The Hindu leaders approached the BMC officials although it came to be of no help. Then the local RSS and Hindu Mahasabha workers, in huge numbers staged a protest outside the municipality office on Saturday. Succumbing to the pressure of the Hindus gathered outside the BMC office, the house was handed over to the actual owners, the Jagariyas and finally, the possession was restored. Although the Jagariya family finally have a roof above their head, the story is not just confined to one family living in Bhendi Bazaar, rather this has become the story of entire India.

The tentacles of Muslim appeasement
While the family was wandering for help, they were assured by the harassers that the lone Hindu family in the area cannot seek political help. As the ones harassing the Hindu Jagariya family claimed that the local MLA Amin Patel would not risk his lakhs of minority votes just to help a single Hindu family.
And this narrates the situation of entire India, especially in the areas where Hindus are a minority.
For years, India in front of its eyes has seen the menace of Muslim appeasement spread its tentacles and the eyes were shut as if the process was harmless. Well, it has come back to bite.
To add to that, Islamists are often shielded by their political masters in fear of losing a loyal votebank. This is the reason responsible for the simultaneous attacks on Hindus in every part of India. Also, in Bhendi Bazar, the family suffered as it was the lone Hindu family in the entire Muslim neighbourhood. The story is going to haunt many Hindus living in such locations, as Hindus have become a minority in seven states of India.
