Looks like Ratna Pathak Shah is giving tough competition to her husband

Ratna Pathak Shah interview

Naseeruddin Shah has been in the news for a long time now. He has been gaining the limelight not for his acting skills and projects but for his vicious remarks on every issue. From being the pro-active part of the anti-Modi brigade to calling the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits fictional, Shah is guilty of hurting the sentiments of many.

His wife Ratna Pathak Shah has now come out following the footprints of her husband. She is ‘worried’ that society is becoming increasingly conservative.

Ratna Pathak Shah goes woke

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Ratna Pathak Shah opened up about her journey as an actor, opportunities for women, and how our society has become conservative.

Ratna Pathak Shah started with her comments on common astrology and ‘Vaastu’, saying that “So we are going conservative. Look at the number of ads for kundali dikhao, vaastu karao, apna astrologer ko dikhao. Look at the funny ones, like Nithyananda who has got an island somewhere. Every single silly, old Guru from under every rock has jumped out and everyone’s flocking to them. Is this the sign of modern society, and where a rationalist like Dabholkar gets killed in broad daylight and nothing can be done about it. His trial is still going on, and nothing will be done about it.”

Well, she also said that in the last 40 years, no one asked whether she will keep a Karva Chauth or not. But last year, she was asked this question.

Ratna Pathak Shah asserted, “Our society is becoming extremely conservative. I feel that very strongly. We are becoming superstitious, we are being forced into accepting and making religion a very important part of one’s life. Suddenly everyone’s talking about, ‘Karva Chauth ka vrat nai kar rahe hai aap?’ Till today no one has asked me this, last year was the first time someone asked me about it. I said, ‘Pagalhun main?’ Isn’t it appalling that modern educated women do Karva Chauth, praying for the lives of husbands so that they can have some validity in life.”

She then went on to play another victim card calling the society around us conservative. She elaborates, “So we are moving towards an extremely conservative society and the first thing that a conservative society does is clamp down on its women. Look at all the conservative societies in the world.”

Shamefully, she compared India with Saudia Arabia and said that India is headed in the same direction. Interestingly, her husband Naseeruddin Shah too had spoken about intolerance and injustice in the country.

Naseeruddin must be proud of Ratna Pathak Shah

For the past couple of years, we were subjected to endless memes and digs at festivals like Karwa Chauth, Raksha Bandhan etc., which were denounced as regressive and patriarchal.  Ratna Pathak Shah is the most vicious in her approach towards the festival, as if Karwa Chauth a diktat that ‘made the lives of women a living hell.’

You see, accepting religion has also become such a shameful thing for Ratna that she has started crying over it in her interviews too. I mean, how is it wrong to accept your religion? Why should one not wear their religion on sleeves? How does abandoning your religion and cultural rituals make you progressive? Are those following their culture and staying true to their values not modern?

But. Coming from her, it is not shocking as she is the wife of Naseeruddin Shah, who is hell-bent on demeaning Hindus and their values.

He has been uttering rubbish to come back in the news headlines. Earlier, he felt endangered living in the country. According to him, the movie was an almost fictionalised version of the suffering of Kashmiri Hindus. He had a skewed opinion on genocide and said that when you talk about genocide, ‘you get a slap on the wrist’ and that is double standards.

A ‘Pativrata’ Ratna Pathak Shah is doing nothing but supporting her husbandin his cause.
