Is it the end of the road for Partha Chatterjee?

Partha Chatterjee TMC

It is an established fact that there is no substitute for hard work and talent. The inability to do hard work and acquire talent has led to a rampant rise in Corruption. To achieve exponential, inorganic growth people tend to adopt shortcuts like bribes, robbing someone and other illegal activities. Politicians, bureaucrats, and government officials exploit this inorganic urge. They trump meritocracy in lieu of monetary and other kinds of benefits. But as they say, what goes around comes around. Such grave illegal activities always land the person in legal trouble. The same seems to be the case for the former West Bengal Minister and Senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee.

TMC leaves Partha Chatterjee high and dry

It is rightfully said that in politics there are no permanent friends or permanent enemies. It is only their personal interest that matters to the politicians. Evidently, when the scathing heat of Corruption started to engulf the ‘PR-crafted image’ of the TMC, the party threw its leader Partha Chatterjee under the bus. After a massive backlash from the public, the party succumbed to this pressure. It was forced to sack its Corruption accused Minister Partha Chatterjee.

Was someone else pulling the string?

The ill-gotten wealth at the residence of TMC Minister’s close aide Arpita Mukherjee made a mockery out of common hard-working Indians. This sent a shock wave among the voters and TMC leaders. To deflect the people’s anger the party used its Minister, Partha Chatterjee, as a scapegoat.

However, the party can’t wash away its hands so easily. It is a noteworthy fact that Partha Chatterjee is one of the close confidants of TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee. His stature in the party is second only to CM Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek.

Further, in political circles, it is said that nothing happens in the TMC or West Bengal government without the permission and knowledge of party Chief Mamata Banerjee. This makes it hard for anyone to believe that the corruption-accused Minister Partha could have pulled such a massive ‘scam’ alone without his party Chief having an iota of information about such grand ‘loot’ from the deprived people.

Moreover, strategic distancing from a close aide clearly demonstrates the massive jolt this alleged scam has done to the ruling party, TMC.

Redefining TMC: “The Mountain of Cash”

The visuals of mountains of cash from the residence of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of TMC leader Partha Chatterjee, shocked the entire nation. In back-to-back raids, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been successful in digging out piles of cash alleged to be the proceeds of the crime of the West Bengal teacher’s recruitment scam.

Till now, ED has seized a whopping Rs 50 crores in cash, gold, around 50 lakhs worth of foreign currencies, and other incriminating documents of other disproportionate assets. It also recovered 13 deeds from the TMC politician’s house. These were also linked to Arpita Mukherjee.

As per the Hindustan Times, an ED official said, “At least one deed, comprising 44 pages, which dates back to 2012 suggests that the duo knew each other at least for the last ten years.”

The ED seizures include Rs 29 crores in cash, five 5kg gold, and foreign currency from Arpita’s Kolkata apartment in Belgharia on 27th July. In an earlier raid on 22nd July, a day before Arpita and Partha Chatterjee’s arrest, ED seized around Rs 21 crores in cash from Arpita’s other apartment in Kolkata.

According to the news reports, Arpita Mukherjee revealed all the dirty dark secrets of the senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee. She told investigators, “Partha used my house and that of another woman as a mini-bank. That other woman is also his close friend. ”

Is it some kind of a joke for this gentleman? In a tweet, he is talking about 40-50 crores cash, amassed from an alleged scam, as if it is some small amount or chillar. Don’t know whether such grave matters should be discussed with such coldness or sarcasm.

From the evidence, ED is getting the raids and it doesn’t seem to end quickly. Some officials are hinting at the cross estimation of around Rs 100 crores in this alleged West Bengal Teacher’s recruitment scam. With the unimaginable cash seizures, the iron curtain seems to be dropping fast on senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee. He is not even getting a respite from his party and his colleagues have distanced from his corrupt and shoddy activities. This all development hints at only one outcome, that the lavish freedom for the former Minister is soon ending. The political road for the TMC leader is soon going to end and Karma has brought him under the might of the law.
